V2 Grader Summary

The agent failed to troubleshoot or verify compatibility, recommending an incorrect upgrade path that violates Linksys mesh generation rules. Despite maintaining ownership and clear communication, the technical inaccuracy and lack of diagnostic process left the customer's issue unresolved, resulting in a failed resolution.

V1 Case Analysis

Customer asked if MX6200 can replace MX4200 parent node while retaining child nodes. Agent incorrectly confirmed compatibility. No serial or warranty verification performed.

Troubleshooting Steps
  • Confirmed current model number (MX4200).
  • Recommended MX6200 as replacement parent node.
  • Advised that existing child nodes can be reset and added to the new MX6200 network.
Key Observations
  • Agent provided materially incorrect technical advice: MX6200 (Cognitive Mesh) and MX4200 (Intelligent Mesh) are incompatible per velop_mesh_compatibility.md cross-generation table.
  • Agent failed to collect serial number or verify warranty status, missing critical protocol steps for product support.
  • Customer was misled into a purchase decision based on false compatibility claims, creating risk of post-sale failure and dissatisfaction.
Positive Highlights
  • Maintained a polite and patient tone throughout the call.
  • Provided a clear product recommendation quickly.
  • Confirmed customer's decision to purchase with confidence.
Agent Errors / Gaps
  • Provided factually incorrect compatibility information: MX6200 cannot work with MX4200 child nodes (per velop_mesh_compatibility.md).
  • Failed to obtain serial number or confirm warranty eligibility, violating standard protocol for product support.
  • Did not clarify that MX6200 uses a different mesh technology generation requiring all nodes to be from the same generation.
  • Did not direct customer to official compatibility documentation or KB article.

V2 Indicator Ratings

Resolution
R1 Not Met Issue actually resolved conf 96%
Agent recommended purchasing an MX6200 and reusing old MX4200 child nodes, but per KB, MX6200 and MX4200 are incompatible across generations. No actual resolution was achieved for the failing parent node.
R2 Not Met Diagnostic thoroughness conf 95%
No troubleshooting steps were performed — no questions about LED status, firmware version, reset attempts, or modem connectivity — before recommending a hardware replacement.
R3 Not Met Correct resolution path conf 94%
Agent recommended an incompatible upgrade path (MX6200 with MX4200 nodes) without verifying cross-generation compatibility, contrary to velop_mesh_compatibility.md.
Technical Accuracy
T1 Not Met Technically accurate info conf 95%
Agent failed to identify root cause of parent node issues; no diagnostic questions asked about symptoms, error messages, or recent changes.
T2 Not Met Appropriate tools / resources used conf 92%
Agent did not consult or reference KB articles on mesh compatibility or firmware, nor check model-specific support status before advising.
T3 Not Met No misinformation conf 97%
Agent stated MX6200 can work as parent with MX4200 child nodes, which is false per cross-generation compatibility rules; also incorrectly implied Wi-Fi 7 devices are unavailable due to region when MBE7000 is Wi-Fi 7 and region availability was unverified.
Communication
C1 Partially Met Clear & professional language conf 88%
Agent responded to customer questions but did not set expectations, summarize next steps, or control the flow — conversation was reactive, not guided.
C2 Met Confirmed understanding conf 90%
Agent used accessible language, avoided technical jargon, and adapted to customer’s level of understanding throughout the call.
Customer Ownership
O1 Met Ownership & empathy conf 93%
Agent remained on the call, did not transfer, and attempted to provide a solution path, demonstrating ownership of the inquiry.
O2 Partially Met Proactive follow-through conf 86%
Agent suggested purchasing MX6200 as next step but provided no timeline, follow-up, or confirmation process for success.
O3 Not Applicable Closure confirmation conf 100%
First contact; no prior case history or handoff context required.
Escalation Judgment
E1 Not Applicable Correct escalation decision conf 100%
No escalation occurred and none was warranted — customer sought advice, not escalation.
E2 Not Applicable Escalation prep & handoff conf 100%
No escalation occurred; therefore execution cannot be assessed.
Customer Experience
X1 Partially Met Customer effort minimised conf 89%
Agent was polite but did not acknowledge customer’s frustration with aging equipment or express empathy for ongoing issues.
X2 Met Tone & rapport conf 91%
Agent matched customer’s conversational pace, responded directly, and maintained engagement without causing confusion.
X3 Not Met Overall experience conf 93%
Agent directed customer to purchase new hardware without first attempting troubleshooting, adding unnecessary cost and effort.

Linksys mesh systems, both for our home and for our businesses, and I've had them for years, different generations. I've recently been having some issues with our home mesh system. I have several of the MX 4200s and I was trying to find out, um, they I've got it in front of me, my parent node and then all the child, but I was trying to find out, um, I was thinking about upgrading the nodes, uh, just because they are several years old. Um, I was trying to looking at the Velop Pro 7s, but they don't seem to have them available anywhere and I was trying to find out if that is something that is still going to be sold or how I would get, I'm just looking at a new mesh system and I didn't, I like Velop, but it doesn't seem like there's anything available and I was wondering if you could help me with that. Okay. Is that. So that's the new one. Can I possibly give you the serial number of the one, one of the, my parent node? Could you let me know? I was just curious how.
01:00
Speaker 2
Yeah, sure. But I can answer it for you. Since I we are supporting this product, we know it well how it works and what is the best one to purchase. Um, if I were you, I will gonna proceed having instead our MX series. Those are eligible for a three years warranty technical support. And it will work for other intelligent mesh or cognitive mesh router. Model number is uh W H uh uh, I mean, the model number for the new one is the MX 6200 MX 6200 [silence]
02:00
Speaker 1
Sure it's MX 4200.
03:00
Speaker 2
If you access the website, it will inform you if you need to update or not. What's the model number of this old place that you have? So if you were going to access its settings, it should route you to the login page. And for the extender that you're thinking to purchase with, you just need to connect it right next to the main node for the meantime while you're trying to add it to your network. [silence]
03:00
Speaker 1
Sure. So, I've currently have Mx-4200. [Silence] [Silence] And, like, my parent node, I think, has been giving me problems, and I don't know if it's, if I should replace it with a new version, the Dev R6, I mean, Pro 6 or if what I have is should be okay and I can get, or should I replace it with the one you just suggested? Sure. So, currently I have MX-4200.
04:00
Speaker 2
All right, so, yeah, this main one, currently, that, do you have the model number for that? Oh, is it MX? What's the model number again of the one that you currently have? Okay, so the best model upgrade instead is MX6200.
04:00
Speaker 1
Okay, I appreciate that very much. And then my other question is I didn't want I didn't know if what would be the if if I purchased an MX-6200 if I can get that, um if I can find it somewhere, um is should I purchase that and continue to use my older system, my older nodes, the child nodes, or should I invest in the pros, the 7?
05:00
Speaker 2
Is that compatible with your existing mesh? So that will be set up instead of as an extender, it should be set up as the parent or the main note and the rest will be reset to be added as extenders, as a child of. [silence] Actually, both. You can either, um, but it would be nice if you can replace the main node with using the MX.
05:00
Speaker 1
Oh. Okay, so it's not available that. I was gonna say so that makes sense. So it's not available in my country. That's okay. Okay. So you still recommend the best is the MX 6200. Okay.
06:00
Speaker 2
The 6200 since that already Wi-Fi 6e. For our Wi-Fi 7 device, it's not currently available in the country. Model number MBE 7000. We also have LN 1600. If oh yeah. Yes. This our best right next to the Wi-Fi 7 is the Wi-Fi 6e which uh that's the uh for the parent node that's gonna be the new wireless technology then Wi-Fi 6e already.
06:00
Speaker 1
Is the mx-6200 okay? And if I purchase an Mx-6200 and make that my parent node, I can continue to use my other nodes as the child nodes, correct? Okay. So the Mx-6200? All right, that's what I wasn't sure. And it was a little confusing on the website, which one which I should get. Um, so you're saying that is the best one currently available in my area. Great. Thank you so much. I will go ahead and get one. That's it. I will get one ordered. Thank you so much for your help.
07:00
Speaker 2
That's how it works. It should be completely replaced its power adapter etherner ethernet cable. Yes, MX 6200. Do you have any other questions? You're always welcome. Thank you for always choosing links and then. Bye for now.
