Speaker 1
[silence] Hey Dylan. My name is Larry. The last name's Hubert. So I've had your product a while ago.
00:00
Speaker 2
hi, thank you for calling linksys. technical support. My name is Dylan. How can I help you today?
00:00
Speaker 1
years ago, but uh just here by my house, I work from home, uh the power went out and then the name on my uh network, when I see all the wi-fi networks listed, the name of mine has now um turned back into the original uh wireless network name that I got when I when I purchased it. I had renamed it when I when I first set it up, but I can't seem to get back into it to change the name. So I was wondering if you might be able to help me figure out. So I've tried to log into the um I've tried to log in through my uh Samsung phone that I'm talking to you on now. I've tried to connect. I have connected to the wi-fi um network and clicked on it, and tried to drill in. I can get as far as um it gives me a [silence]
01:00
Speaker 2
Mhm Mmm Huh? Mhm I see. Mhm Oh Mhm Mhm
01:00
Speaker 1
You know, a bunch of different data points and then it says, you know, manage manage network or something like that. When I click on that, um, basically, and then it stops me and asks me for like a login and I said, either I can go through email or I can go through the password for the router or something like that. Um, yeah. So, neither one of those options are working for me. And then I, uh, attempted to click on, um, the I tried to use the app instead on my phone, so it links to this app. So I, apparently I downloaded that when I very first set this up. So, I went back in there too and that prompts me for an email and a password. So, I tried different passwords. Uh, all of them haven't worked. And again, I haven't logged in in a long time. But then I tried to reset the password, um, and then it now is telling me it doesn't even recognize my email.
02:00
Speaker 1
which is kind of weird. Um, but yeah, so any any advice on your part how I can get the name of the um the network to go back to where I have it? [silence] Yeah, if I kind of boil it down without any background information, it's the network- the network name right now says linksis05499, which is exactly what
03:00
Speaker 2
All right. All right, sir. So, um, let me just, uh, ensure that I got your concern correctly. So, your power went out, and the router went back to its default settings. So, uh, so now you're trying to change it back to, uh, its Wi-Fi name, but you're unable to, um, change it since you aren't able to go through the linksys app, and you're unable to get, I mean, you're unable to get into it. So, uh, that's the main issue there, right? Hmm. Hmm. Yeah.
03:00
Speaker 1
[silence] I still have the little pamphlet. I still have the little pamphlet the booklet. [silence] Yeah. Larry, the last name is Hubert, H-H-U-B-E-R-T.
04:00
Speaker 2
Yes, sir. Uh, there are yeah, there are actually instances that uh, there router would go back or will reset itself after sudden power outage. So that's um, that's an issue with uh, older models. But uh, anyway, uh, let me just run some verification with you first, sir, in order for me to provide you an accurate uh, steps on this one, since they, they, uh, they all have different routers or models. Okay. So um, let me just create a quick record here starting with your full name. Uh, you've mentioned earlier your name is Larry Tobert, is that correct? Oh, okay. So Larry Hubert, and uh, how about your email address, sir Larry?
04:00
Speaker 1
My address is for. Oh, email address. L H-B-E-R-T H-U-B-E-R-8675@email.com Correct. Correct Yeah, just a second. I'm actually seeing
05:00
Speaker 2
email address. Okay, so let me just repeat back one. It's leubert8675@gmoll.com. All right. Let's see. Let me also verify your phone number. That's two zero seven five two three nine zero seven. Okay. All right. Thank you so much for that one, sir. And now, can you provide me the model number and the serial number of your device? Okay.
05:00
Speaker 1
Inside this little pamphlet, it actually has the wireless password. I bet you, I wonder if that's the original password I have to put in. That's why I might be able to get in myself. I wonder if that's what it's looking for. Yeah, let me just give that a shot before I go any further here. Hold on. Yep. Yeah, internet service provider is Spectrum. Zero. Zero. Zero.
06:00
Speaker 2
uh, that's, that's actually it, sir. if there's some, you know, information about the password. that should be your default password. but normally. uh, normally it's indicated underneath the Linksys device. I mean, the wi-fi password is indicated the default wi-fi password. Mhm. And uh, I would appreciate it if you can provide me the serial number as well, sir. and, uh also confirm who's your internet service provider. Okay. [silence]
06:00
Speaker 1
Yeah. Okay. It doesn't work. I know. All right. So let's see if I can figure out the number that you're talking about. Oh yeah, numbers are pretty small. Hold on. I'm gonna have to take a picture. Uh, I got that uh, network name in there, past them a bit. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So, yeah, I'm just seeing on the underneath of the of the unit. It's got uh, Let's see, you're looking for a serial number.
07:00
Speaker 2
are able to connect to the Wi-Fi? hmm Yes sir the serial number [silence]
07:00
Speaker 1
14 X is an ex-ray of 0 69505499.
08:00
Speaker 2
What we have right now is actually already part of our end of life and almost part of our end of support products. This month, actually, we will be no longer providing support for this specific router. Also just to let you know, this is part of our legacy routers. It's one of our pioneering routers and uh looking at the age of your device, it has been like 16 years since you had this router. Considering the age of your device, you may really encounter some issues with it. Um I understand that it's still working, but I can uh unfortunately I'm unable to provide a um a technical support over the phone, but I can.
09:00
Speaker 1
Yeah. Yeah. All I'm looking to do is just change the name. So like when it when you look on your your smartphone or something you you see all Wi-Fi networks that are available and the names of them. I'm just I'm looking to just change mine from linuses 05 4999 to the name I had before. That's it. Good job. Yeah.
10:00
Speaker 2
Yeah, sir. Uh-huh. Uh yes, sir. So you just have to actually just connect to the Wi-Fi and since you're already connected to the Wi-Fi, you may be able to uh access the web user interface. So uh yeah you just have to go to a browser, open a browser and then um uh type in 192.168.1.1 and it will um bring you to the login page of the web user. [silence]Yeah, sir. Uh-huh. So yeah, there will be a uh default login information in there, right, in the router. Uh-huh. So yeah, just type in there the user, admin and the password admin and that will bring based on the default, that will bring you to the web UI of your router where you can reconfigure everything there. So if you won't be able to access that, of course like the default login did not work. Then you're going to have to reset the router back to its factory setting by using the reset button located on the physical device. Also if there's no problem, if you enter the correct default log-in information and you're still not being able to access the web user interface, you can also do a factory reset on your router. Also, just connecting the router with the PC through an Ethernet cable will do. [silence] Sir. [silence] Yeah, sir. Uh-huh. I think that will do.,
10:00
Speaker 1
[KEEP_UNCERTAIN] Okay. So when you go to the web browser, what was the very first thing you said you need to key in? Yeah. Yeah. Like, the very first thing, when you open up a new URL, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Wow. Two, okay, so you're talking about links is Linksys Smart Wi-Fi. Okay, automatically came up. Okay. Should I just click on it? Okay. [silence]
11:00
Speaker 2
interface then you just have to follow the setup wizard it will ask you for the admin password or the password you mean the 192 168 1.1 yeah sir and then the the wizard setup will come up and you just have to follow the instructions so right after you access the 192 168 brought you to a login page where it would ask you for the access i'm in the router password so you just have to input um uh the password that is uh located underneath the device so it's um it's your that would be your router password for the meantime or if it doesn't go through using via the default wifi password you can try admin all lowercase [silence] and then it will bring you to the dashboard where you can find all the uh smart wifi tools where the yeah those the tools you you need to use and then you just have to go to wireless settings or the wifi settings and from there on um you just have to uh click on edit or tap on edit to change the wifi name and the password.
11:00
Speaker 1
okay. all right. well, good, well, I will give it a shot. yeah. sounds like a yeah. I didn't come up on my mobile phone. I'm trying it on my work phone now.
13:00
Speaker 2
Yeah as long as you are able to like log into the Linksy's web user interface everything will just follow and you can see all the smart all the smart tools there. Just go to the wireless settings. That's where you can update the Wi-Fi name and password. Yes sir. But if it doesn't work with your phones or um through the phone's browser, I would suggest um changing the mode to desktop mode on your browser.
13:00
Speaker 1
Okay. Yeah. I'm trying that with a working phone. Now it actually took too long to load it said so it's not loading it up. But. Okay. And then on my phone I'm not sure where to change it to the desktop mode. Okay. Desktop site? Is that what you mean when you say mode? Okay. I haven't done that before.
14:00
Speaker 2
view, but if you if you do have laptops or computer, you can use, you can use it, or open it there, because it's more convenient. [Silence] Uh-huh. yes sir. and then insure sir that when you're searching for the 192.168.1.1, you are typing it, to the address bar,
14:00
Speaker 1
okay, so you were saying it's preferred if I, uh, type it in, you said? All right.
15:00
Speaker 2
the search bar because it will give you multiple options unless you're going to like type it in directly to the address bar. It will route you automatically to the login page. Type it in on the address bar, not on the search bar. You know where the address bar is where you can find the link. you know, the upper part where you're going to look for like, for example, if you type in um a website and then .com like that. Not on the search bar like on the Google when you um open a new tab and then there's a search. Bar. Not there. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. I'm sorry, sir? Yes, you can try that. Yes, sir. Hmm.
15:00
Speaker 1
Yes. And if I was to get a new router, um, is there a particular like test test uh one out there? Is there one that you would recommend over everything else? [silence] Now did you did you say what yeah, did you say match
17:00
Speaker 2
uh...uh yes sir uh most of our customers right now are using the mesh routers so uh i don't know if you're familiar with mesh routers but uh just to give you some insights uh the mesh router is like um multiple routers interconnected to each other to create a mesh system you know uh for you to have a wider coverage ensure that there is no dead spot in any part of your area with um uh like seamless connectivity um in your area so it's
17:00
Speaker 1
M A T C H [ silence ] Oh, mesh router. Okay. And is it, I assume, made by linksys. Okay. Yep. [ silence ]
18:00
Speaker 2
Okay, now mesh. uh asunto mesh Yes, sir. You can you can can consider the MX 2000 that's a Mike X Ray 2000 or the MX 5 5 0 0 5,500 or the MX 6200 so even though these are like mesh routers, you can actually purchase um even one. So it's not like the typical router where you only get one. Now, though. mm-hmm [silence]
18:00
Speaker 1
and then. Okay. Yeah. Sounds good. Okay. All right. Yeah I can do that. Well yeah, I'd appreciate your yeah, appreciate your advice on the other stuff. It doesn't seem to be working. Like it doesn't want to
19:00
Speaker 2
Ur where it looks like a box, like a box type, you know, something like that, so aesthetically it will look like a speaker, like it's a tower type router, I don't know if you can picture it out, but yeah, you can try looking at some online retailers like Amazon, Best Buy for a mesh router. And you can consider those models that I provided you. Yes, sir. All right, sir. Uh, that's good.
19:00
Speaker 1
Towed up I click on you know, log in and then it's having trouble. So should I should I stop trying or or do you know for a fact? I hope they don't get through it.
20:00
Speaker 2
Uh, I see. Yeah, cuz um, uh, actually, um, some of the models that were already part of our part of the end of life devices or part of the end of support products were being removed, you know, to have an access with uh, um, the web UI or web user interface. So that technically is one of the reason why, but um, um, uh, no, sir, you can still try it cuz uh, there are like limited devices. So, uh, this device that you have right now is not yet uh, end of support, but it will be part of the end of support products this month, like specifically on July 27th.
20:00
Speaker 1
Okay. Go with. My router what? Okay, local. Yeah. That's all of it right there? My router.local. Okay.
21:00
Speaker 2
Yeah you can still try uh like uh try searching for instead of the one nine two dot one six eight dot one dot one you can try the HTTP HTTP colon double forward slash my router dot local my router dot local yes sir Yes sir. That's it. So it's HTTP colon double forward slash my router dot local
21:00
Speaker 1
Hmmm and yeah yeah I don't know the whole song. Um I could go that on my uh SDK I suppose. You said HP.
22:00
Speaker 2
Yeah, sure. I would suggest H.T.T.P. hotel Tango Tango Papa colon forward forward slash my Router. local. I would really suggest accessing it through web user interface for for less inconvenience.
22:00
Speaker 1
That one, he said, web, the web interface. Um, and, and you said, um, HTPP uh, not HTPPs, right? Okay. Yeah, yeah, I, I don't, yeah, previously, I only had one slash, but I don't know how much that made a difference, but um, showed what local. Yeah, didn't like it on my computer. I'll try that back on my phone. Okay. HTTP.
23:00
Speaker 2
You're not experiencing network outages sir. Yeah a web web user interface. You're not experiencing network outages sir. Uh yes sir just http. So that's hotel Tango Tango Papa. local. Without the s, right? Uh, you can I'm sorry, sir. I was talking I thought you could hear me. Yeah, and you can you can try using different [silence] Just try out some different addresses [silence]
23:00
Speaker 1
Yeah, Chrome on both, uh, Android phone and worked off. uh, I, I preshon IE. Uh, it says that site can't be reached. Okay. text my computer, dell, LenSus Wi-Fi. Yes, um, my work computer is connected to the LenSus Wi-Fi. Yes. Yeah. You want, you want me to disconnect it? Okay. Because I, I
25:00
Speaker 2
Well, browser, sir, if if if it's not working on one of the browser that you're using right now. Uh... Well, what... Well, what was there the error, sir, showing? Okay, site can be reach. Uh did you you connect your computer to the Linksys wi-fi? They may know what's there. It is connected. So you should be able No, no, sir, you should be able to access it if you're connected with the Linksys wi-fi.
25:00
Speaker 1
I'm on my work laptop as well, which is connected to my home Wi-Fi, Linksys, um, and I can't get to them. Go ahead. Yes, I can I can see that. Yeah, I'm, I'm connected to it. So I'm looking right at it. It says connected secured, uh, connected to Linus, 05499, underscore five, vine, Z, uh. Yeah, I didn't like that either, but I'm gonna do it again. So, now it's loading up something, hold on. Oh, this is a different screen than before. Okay. So now I enter. [silence]
26:00
Speaker 2
Like the like the default Wi-Fi name the links is Okay. Okay. Okay. I see. If it doesn't work, I mean if the http myrouter.local didn't work, sir. You're going to try the 192.168.1.1. Okay. How about in overr there?
26:00
Speaker 1
and the, the, okay enter router password which is going to be the one from the book. thank you. Okay. okay. I have the actual password. It's in the book and underneath of the machine. Well it didn't like that. So so so so shouldn't I be able to put the password that's right on the router itself? uh let me try it again. I think those are zeros and not uh O's. I think those are zeros. So, AQA is zero. K A B D zero V J. Yeah. It doesn't like it. um,
27:00
Speaker 2
okay um that's it sir that's the login page yeah you can try admin all lowercase as it the router password Give me just three minutes, you look great around Oh you can try it sir. Yeah no sir while you're at it can you try to unblock this child node here and put it near to the parent node? At least go 24 so we can add it back to the first okay so since you only have a problem with one of
27:00
Speaker 1
Did you say I could put in admin? Ok no, thanks. Ok. Now I'm in. Now, let's see. That's weird. Yeah. So here, oddly enough, it says, uh, it says edit name, it actually says Hunter. That's what I call it. NMEBH N-M-E-BH. So, so it still shows my name, uh, the name I gave it. But, but when it, but when [silence] hmm.
28:00
Speaker 2
Yes, sir. All lowercase. uh, the device you hold and press the reset button and 20. okay. that's good to hear, sir. yeah, as what i've mentioned earlier, you just have to go to wireless and then go to the um i mean top one edit. then you can change your Wi-Fi name and password that you just have to explore and navigate through that um web-based interface. and then you're good to go. Was it re-able to re- uh-huh. Uh huh.
28:00
Speaker 1
The machine, my laptop sees it or the phone sees it, it sees the original name, not to what I called it. But when I log in like this, it still thinks it's called Hunter. Okay.
29:00
Speaker 2
Mhm. Uh huh. How far is distress difference? Uh, ah. I see. Um, well if that's the case, sir, you can just try to do a sequence reboot. So you just have to unplug both your modem and your router from the power source. Wait for at least, um, a minute. And then after a minute, just have to plug in first your modem. Wait for it to stabilize before you plug in your router. And that's it. It might, uh, it might refresh your network. But in the event that it will not change, then you can just try to edit it and then rename it. With the same name, of course. [silence]
29:00
Speaker 1
Now, um, I got two different boxes, I want to make sure I understood the terminology you used. So, I've got the Linksys router, but then I also have another, I guess, maybe you call it a modem, but uh, spectrum, uh, is my internet provider. They gave, they gave me their, I guess, modem. Um, so, when I disconnect those two, which one did you say I need to plug in first and then wait, wait a while for the second one? Is I, I plug that in first and then I wait after like a minute or something before plugging in the uh, uh, Linksys router?
30:00
Speaker 2
The, the same name, and then hit on apply. Please. You need to wait for it to fully clear. Hmm. I'm getting it. The spectrum one. The spectrum box. No, sir. Um, after you unplug both your modem and your router, your spectrum and your linksys box, you wait for at least a minute and then you're going to plug it back in.
30:00
Speaker 1
and how do I know that the spectrum box has done stabilized or whatever you've said how do I know that it's completed.
31:00
Speaker 2
plug in first your spectrum box. And wait for it to stabilize or go online before you plug in back your Linksys box. Now, can you try here again to reset the child? The light indicator on it will be solid or will be stable and will not be blinking. Especially the, the, the internet icon, if it's showing an internet icon though. But normally, it would take two minutes. So, after you unplug it and plug it back in, you just have to wait for two minutes for it to go online. Same, same goes with the Linksys router. All right.
31:00
Speaker 1
yeah so i think i got that down so i can unplug them later if i need to and um i just thought it was strange that i i couldn't uh didn't show the right name so but uh great well thank you very much uh yeah thank you have a great day and thanks for the information on the uh the new routers yeah bye bye
32:00
Speaker 2
All right, sir. Uh-huh. Yeah. Yeah, you're very much welcome, sir. And I appreciate your time, Calvin and Chris. You too, sir. Have a great day. Take care. Bye for now.
32:00
