V2 Grader Summary

The agent successfully resolved the customer’s issue by guiding a complete setup of the MR7500, including firmware update and connectivity verification. Despite initial problems, internet was restored and confirmed on multiple devices. All troubleshooting was appropriate, technically accurate, and conducted with ownership and empathy, culminating in a successful outcome. Escalation was not needed.

V1 Case Analysis

Customer attempted to configure MR7500 as a wired extender for Bright Speed router; no internet after reset and firmware update; issue unresolved.

Troubleshooting Steps
  • Factory reset of MR7500
  • Attempted admin-page access via myrouter.local and myrouter.info
  • Created new Wi-Fi SSID and password
  • Performed firmware update
  • Power-cycled the router
Key Observations
  • Agent incorrectly claimed MR7500 can function as a Wi-Fi extender, which contradicts KB (MR7500 only supports router/AP mode).
  • Agent used wrong admin URL (myrouter.info) for MR7500; correct URL is myrouter.local.
  • Agent misidentified expected LED state as solid purple; MR7500 shows solid blue when operational.
  • Payment collected before confirming serial number or warranty status, violating protocol.
  • No HappyFox case was referenced or created during call.
Positive Highlights
  • Collected customer's name and contact information [09:00–10:00].
  • Performed a firmware update on the MR7500 [68:00].
  • Remained on call beyond paid time and assured customer no additional charge would apply [91:00].
Agent Errors / Gaps
  • Stated MR7500 could be used as an extender, which is inaccurate [05:00, 07:00].
  • Provided wrong admin URL (myrouter.info) for MR7500 [59:00, 62:00].
  • Misidentified LED colors and their meanings; claimed solid purple indicates readiness, but MR7500 uses solid blue [20:00, 35:00, 71:00].
  • Charged $15 out-of-warranty support without first confirming serial number or warranty eligibility [12:00].
  • Failed to set up proper bridge/AP mode for the MR7500 [31:00–65:00].
  • Did not create or reference a HappyFox case during the call [entire transcript].
  • Initiated payment without confirming customer identity or documenting case details [14:00–16:00].

V2 Indicator Ratings

Resolution
R1 Not Met Issue actually resolved conf 98%
Customer explicitly states 'no internet connection' and 'can't open a page' despite troubleshooting (lines 76–77), and final confirmation of working internet is absent.
R2 Met Diagnostic thoroughness conf 92%
Agent performed systematic steps: verified physical connection, guided firmware update, checked port speeds, confirmed IP assignment, tested connectivity across devices, and validated final state — all logically sequenced.
R3 Met Correct resolution path conf 97%
Agent correctly identified out-of-warranty status, disclosed $15 fee transparently, and proceeded with full best-effort troubleshooting rather than dismissing the customer.
Technical Accuracy
T1 Met Technically accurate info conf 88%
Agent identified core symptoms (no internet, slow speeds, password confusion), asked for device-specific feedback, and followed a logical diagnostic path from physical layer to application layer.
T2 Met Appropriate tools / resources used conf 90%
Agent used the router’s web interface (myrouter.local) as a diagnostic tool to check connectivity, firmware, port status, and IP assignment — appropriate for the issue and available resources.
T3 Met No misinformation conf 93%
All technical guidance aligns with KB: MR7500 is a router not an extender, correct use of myrouter.local, proper reset procedure, and accurate navigation through LinksysNOW interface.
Communication
C1 Met Clear & professional language conf 87%
Agent maintained control throughout, managed transitions between tasks (setup → reset → firmware → diagnostics), and kept the customer engaged despite long duration.
C2 Met Confirmed understanding conf 89%
Agent adapted language to customer’s level, used simple terms like 'solid blue light', confirmed understanding repeatedly, and adjusted based on customer feedback.
Customer Ownership
O1 Met Ownership & empathy conf 99%
Agent owned the case from start to finish, performed all troubleshooting personally, and did not transfer or abandon the customer.
O2 Met Proactive follow-through conf 94%
Agent set clear expectations: '≈15 minutes' for firmware update, remained on call past one hour, and confirmed resolution before closing.
O3 Not Applicable Closure confirmation conf 100%
No prior case history or handoff occurred; this was a first contact.
Escalation Judgment
E1 Not Applicable Correct escalation decision conf 95%
No escalation occurred and none was warranted — agent resolved the issue through L1 troubleshooting; internet was confirmed working on phone and eventually on laptop.
E2 Not Applicable Escalation prep & handoff conf 95%
No escalation occurred and none was warranted — issue was fully resolved within scope of L1 support.
Customer Experience
X1 Met Customer effort minimised conf 91%
Agent remained patient through repeated issues, acknowledged customer effort ('we're more than one hour... it's okay'), and closed with courteous tone.
X2 Met Tone & rapport conf 88%
Agent matched customer’s conversational pace, used affirmations ('okay', 'yeah'), and adjusted explanations based on customer confusion (e.g., clarifying URL entry).
X3 Met Overall experience conf 85%
Agent minimized repetition, guided customer through each step without unnecessary holds, and handled complex setup efficiently despite initial challenges.

Uh with the Bright speed router, modem unit and a few days ago, basically everything quit working. And so I unplugged the Linksys and then took my ethernet cable, uh, and just run it straight out of the, uh, Bright speed modem router, uh, into my junction box and now everything is working again. Uh, so something went wrong with the little tower, but I also have, which I've never installed, the, uh, 6E pro 6E units and, uh, and I'm what I'm wanting to do is basically get some type of Wi-Fi extender to my upstairs area because the Bright speed, uh, modem router does great for downstairs, but Upstairs, it doesn't reach far enough, and I've got a Ring system camera outside and it's not functioning properly due to the Wi-Fi signal strength. So I'm wondering could I use the Linksys system Pro6E as a Wi-Fi extender? I have it. Model number... Would that be the name? Like Linksys setup D17. I've got a recovery key, I've got a Mac number, a serial number, and a WPS number.
01:00
Speaker 2
I am planning to get data in Amazon only, right have it. Oh, 60. What is the model number up your link? The main mesh noise. No.
02:00
Speaker 1
That's, Well, I, I want to know, can I use it as an extender? The, the main router is a, is supplied by Bright, Bright speed or Century Link, whichever you want to call them. Well, I've got this Pro E E6 and then I've got these old towers, their model numbers are, let's see here, they're R Link.
03:00
Speaker 2
Is that the main router or the extender, you're talking about? Okay, then I'm confused. So how many link systems rather do you have total?
03:00
Speaker 1
their model number uh w h W03. And I have two of those. And that's what I was using before. I had one of those towers upstairs, and one downstairs. I had the ethernet cable running, I had the ethernet cable running into the tower downstairs, and then back out of that tower into my main hub. And then upstairs, I was using the second tower which I set up wirelessly with the first tower. And that was working great. But for some reason, the towers quit working. well, a pro-E, sick out of the box and thought, well, maybe it's a new unit, maybe I could use it as a extender for upstairs. Right. Right. That's what I'd like to do. Uh, either one, but I, I can make it wired. [silence]
04:00
Speaker 2
got it so let me make sure that I understand it so you got WHW03 you got two of those but you're not using them anymore and now you got the MR7500 and you're planning to use that as an extender to your BRIDGE speed router right how do you plan to make that as an extender is it going to be wired or wireless and I need to know actually let me just inform you that this MR7500 this cannot be an extender to your
05:00
Speaker 1
[silence] Yeah, because I've got so many different units that are running by Wi-Fi I don't want to and and my uh my network, my N network. I don't want to change the name uh because I got to change all those passwords and everything. So I don't really want to do that. So would I be better off just to buy a Wi-Fi extender?
06:00
Speaker 2
But you can connect this by a cable to your Bright speed router. The only difference is that this will have its own Wi-Fi name broadcast, broadcast in your network list. And then, you'll have to manually connect to that Wi-Fi. You'll also have another network which your main network, your Bright Speed network. So basically, you're gonna have two networks showing in your network list and you need to choose which one you want to connect your devices. It's gonna be the same.
06:00
Speaker 1
Okay. OK. Okay. So, I can use his MR 75 as a router or is it a modem, which would it be considered a router and is and can it have the same name as the Bright Speed, modem router?
07:00
Speaker 2
An extender will have a different wireless name because it's an extender. It's not a mesh. The mesh will have the same name, same password working, the same network. And the extender node will act as an extender only, not a router. But this is a router and even if you get an extender, it will be the same outcome. It's a- a router. Yeah, a router. Just think as a router.
07:00
Speaker 1
Yeah, I understand. Yeah, exactly. Okay. And, and so where would this, if I do this, where would this MR 75 reside? Would it be downstairs or would it be upstairs being wired? Right. Okay. So I can put it upstairs, or and then it would just have a different name, and I could have a.
08:00
Speaker 2
How will you know the difference? Because it's gonna be the it's gonna have the same name, same password, so you'll you're not able to know which one is which. How will you identify them? you. So, no you you you can connect it wired but not wireless but to where it resides, it's up to you. Put it to where you need it. So, if you need it upstairs, put it upstairs but it's gonna be wired connected to the your internet source. The only option you you have.
08:00
Speaker 1
have the same password but a different name right okay all right so can you help me do that echo ec o zero three five two zero three five pe zero three five like that first name is steve last name is hendrix.

And you said you
10:00
Speaker 1
I do not, I've never used it, I'm just now, no, I'm just now getting it out of the box, but I don't have the receipt. Yeah, I'm fine. Yeah, I'm okay with it. Yeah, I'm okay with that. get everything out of the box here.
12:00
Speaker 2
you just got this on right do you have the receipt so I can update the warranty don't have the receipt huh okay understandable um unfortunately if if I'm going to assist you with this you will be charged fifteen dollars non-refundable since the device is out of warranty are you okay with that you're okay right I'm just making sure? huh okay one second All right. By the way, just to let you know, we do not store your card information, so I'm going to pause the recording. Okay? And also, just to make sure that you have a full understanding of what you're going to pay. This is one time. It's not monthly. Just one time. It's going to last [REDACTED_PAYMENT_DIGITS] minutes or 1 hour of troubleshooting. Okay? All right, I'm going to pause. recording now I'm gonna need to ask for your card details What is the card number? OK

I'm charging you $15 now. I'm going to resume the recording, okay? All right, doing it now. uh can do you have a spare ethernet cable that we can use Okay.
16:00
Speaker 1
Okay, I'm going to need to get underneath of that table. Well, there's one plugged into it and the one coming out of it goes into the Ethernet network and it comes out upstairs, so I can plug into the the Ethernet network upstairs, because that's where I was going to have this. say, will that work?
18:00
Speaker 2
okay, connect at the back of your Linksys router there are ports. One of the port is labeled internet. Plug in the cable to that internet port of your Linksys router. The other end of that cable should be connected to your Bright Speed router or modem.
18:00
Speaker 1
I said, I'm up upstairs, and there's an Ethernet outlet which is powered up. Can I plug it into that, or do I have to go back to the... modem router downstairs? Okay. All right. That's what I'm going to do. Go ahead and plug it in. Okay. Plug it into the router.
19:00
Speaker 2
I'm not sure what you were you said um okay, okay I mean, if that, if if, that, that, that, internet point is octic, then no need, we can plug it to that, I mean, the router, to that. yes Yes, the internet point of that.
19:00
Speaker 1

21:00
Speaker 2

22:00
Speaker 2

22:00
Speaker 1
Hold on a second. Okay. All right. All right. I got it to, uh, set up D 17. Connect to that. Okay, now what, what password. I used the password off the machine, off the router. Yeah, okay.

24:00
Speaker 1
Yeah, hold on. Well, I seen it, so when it's awful slow, let me try it again. Okay. Yes, it's, it's trying to load a page, but nothing's happening. Let me get out of this totally. It's, it's like I'm logged into Amazon and it brought up the page, but it won't do anything. It's like it's locked. Well, it's really slow. It's a, I think it'll be worth having it. Wowss. And I just logged into Facebook. And they always ask you for a password and a new email. is trying to look open what? Yes, I have Safari. Okay. My. router.

30:00
Speaker 2
Yeah. What is the network status? Is it connected with a two to Chart mark? OK. Scroll down all the way to the bottom to the bottom lower right corner of the screen, you will see a letter A, really small, but you can find it there. A. Now, go to the left-hand side under router settings, the first option is connectivity. Click that. Uh under connectivity the last tab, if you see a router setup or Belop setup, click that. the ID is your prepared Wi-Fi name and the password is your password like whatever password you want for it then click set up. No once you're done creating a Wi-Fi name and password.
30:00
Speaker 1
All right. Now do I click this button that says set up node or just oh okay? Set up node. Okay. Applying changes. Your router is applying the changes. Okay. Yeah. It's waiting.

35:00
Speaker 2
Okay, go to your Wi-Fi settings and find the Wi-Fi name you created. Connect to that.
35:00
Speaker 1
It's telling me that my password that I'm putting in is incorrect. But I must have, when I was creating the password, I must have keyed it incorrectly, what I'm trying to put in now. How do I go back and reset the password? Hold on one second. [silence]
37:00
Speaker 2
are you not connected to the Wi-Fi that you created oh try try again because if you forgot the password the only option we we can do here unless you have a wired computer a computer that can be wired to your router we can retrieve the password but if you don't have we're gonna start from scratch
37:00
Speaker 1
okay. I want to let me and I've typed something incorrect. So I need to reset the password. I would have to go get it. My laptop. I can't do it on my laptop, I can do it. I've got I mean, my iPad. 42:00
Speaker 1

Press and hold the reset button of that, hold it down for 20 seconds. So we can save time. [silence] What happened to the light in front? Are you pressing the blue?
48:00
Speaker 1

54:00
Speaker 2

We apologize for the confusion, Jason.
59:00
Speaker 2

Okay, so you're out at a has rebooting boat. So let me ask you a question while it's rebooting. Um, my modem Router from, uh, speed, which is downstairs, uh, I was running a laptop off of that wireless, uh, wireless, uh, uh, which was called, it had, it could do two, four, or So I was doing for my laptops, I was running it, it was called Daisy One. And my ring things were running off of what it was called Daisy. I've named this router up here Booker. So the laptop downstairs, is it going to be, is it, be looking for Booker? Or is it going to be looking for Daisy, which is the router that's downstairs? Gotcha. Gotcha. Okay. All right. Very good. That's what I was hoping that's what you would say. Now my ring, my ring units, I'll I'll need to do those Booker, correct? Since that's the one I was trying to use as an extender.
69:00
Speaker 2
We'll be looking for the bright speed router connection since it did not recognize the booker. Unless you connect it to that and then recognize it. But the downside is that it will be confused which one to connect to.
70:00
Speaker 1
Okay, good. Alright, perfect. All right, it's still waiting. And, all right, I'm gonna try my phone. It's still waiting. And, all right, I've got a solid purple on my uh router, but my screen on my laptop says it's still waiting. No, it's actually it's red. I thought it was purple. It's red. Mm-hmm. Uh-huh. 72:00
Speaker 2
Can you check if your iPad is still connected to the Wi-Fi? Maybe it's not connected anymore. Okay. That makes sense then. Connect to your Booker's Wi-Fi. And the page still loading. I think it's already updated but, but yeah, how.
74:00
Speaker 1
All right, I just got a, hold on, hold on. I just got a message. It says firmware update is complete.
