V2 Grader Summary

The agent provided a technically plausible path forward by recommending compatible mesh nodes for the MR9000, acknowledging its ongoing support. However, no actual troubleshooting was conducted, key technical details were misstated (invalidating T3), and the customer was left to self-manage next steps. While not fully resolved, the interaction advanced the customer’s understanding beyond initial confusion, warranting Partial Resolution over Unresolved.

V1 Case Analysis

Customer asked about compatible Wi-Fi extender for MR9000 and router lifespan. Agent incorrectly stated any Linksys mesh product (e.g., Atlas Wi-Fi 6) would work, misnamed products ('V Sham', 'micro 7'), and failed to verify cross-generation compatibility. Provided 5–6 year lifespan estimate.

Troubleshooting Steps
  • Confirmed MR9000 as the router model.
  • Explained that Linksys extenders are discontinued.
  • Recommended any Linksys mesh product (e.g., Atlas Wi-Fi 6) as compatible.
  • Provided an estimated router life expectancy of 5–6 years.
Key Observations
  • Agent made a critical accuracy error by claiming any Linksys mesh product works with MR9000, ignoring cross-generation compatibility rules documented in velop_mesh_compatibility.md.
  • Agent misnamed multiple products ('V Sham', 'LN1610', 'micro 7'), which are not real Linksys models and could mislead the customer.
  • Agent failed to verify whether the recommended mesh nodes are actually compatible with the MR9000, which is a current-generation Intelligent Mesh device.
  • Agent was polite and provided a reasonable lifespan estimate, but technical advice was fundamentally flawed.
Positive Highlights
  • Agent confirmed the customer's router model (MR9000) and serial number correctly.
  • Provided a clear estimate of router life expectancy (5–6 years), which aligns with general industry guidance.
  • Correctly informed the customer that standalone Linksys extenders are discontinued and that mesh nodes are the current solution.
  • Directed the customer to Amazon as the authorized distributor, which is accurate per company policy.
Agent Errors / Gaps
  • Incorrectly stated that any Linksys mesh product will work with the MR9000, directly contradicting the KB: 'Nodes from different mesh technology generations cannot be mixed in the same network' (velop_mesh_compatibility.md). The MR9000 is a current-generation Intelligent Mesh device and is not compatible with older WHW series or other non-matching mesh systems.
  • Misnamed non-existent Linksys products: 'V Sham' [11:00], 'LN1610' [12:00], and 'Linksys micro 7' [12:00], which are not valid product names and could confuse the customer.
  • Failed to identify that the customer's suggested 'WH Sync Series' [14:00] likely refers to a WHW01 or WHW03, which are not compatible with the MR9000 due to different mesh generations.
  • Did not provide a single correct compatible model (e.g., MX6200, MBE7000, LN1400) that can actually be paired with the MR9000, leaving the customer at risk of purchasing an incompatible device.

This is sucks. Which is C o x dot net. 216, 8708164 12 The serial number is 32 A as an atom, 10 M as in Mary. 29. A as an atom. 01350. MR 9,000. I believe it to be version 1. There it is. Provider is Cox, DOX. Nothing? I have a question. Um, so, when you get, the router is in my office, which is in the front of our 1500 sq foot home. And when you get to the back of the home, the signal is very weak. And we are, we have moved from cable for our television to Hulu Plus Live TV, so we are streaming a lot. And we're seeing that we're having some buffering issues, some issues in general, in certain locations in the home. I'm thinking that it would probably be a good idea for us to try a Wi-Fi extender for that portion of the home. I am trying to determine What is the best Wi-Fi extender to be compatible with our MR9000 router? Well, there's... there's 1500 square feet in the upstairs of the home, there's also 1100 square foot basements in the home, but that's not where we're having the problem. So, all totaled it would be 2600 square feet including the basement, but we're having the problem at the back of the first floor, which is 1500 square feet.
02:00
Speaker 2
Let's say, so you have 1,500 square foot in a total uh size of the home, right? You can have the uh model number MX200 [silence] um okay, you can um, mash your MR9000 with the Atlas Wi-Fi 6[silence]
04:00
Speaker 1
Okay, I'm taking notes. So the Link sys atl Wi-Fi 6. Okay. Oh. All right. Um, and I thought I'm boot it up on my computer right now. Um, I'd like to see because I'm finding very little in the way of Link sys extenders that are actually available for purchase. So I'd like to just see if I can actually find this at a retailer.
05:00
Speaker 2
uh-huh, uh, correct, yeah, so you can connect that uh, okay, if you want, it wireless through your MR 9000 or it could be wire, both can work, uh depends on you, but it can wirelessly connected to your MR 9000. So you will have a Wi-Fi connection to that particular area. [silence] You can only.
05:00
Speaker 1
Well, I'm finding them other places. It's just like Walmart's got them advertised of all things. Um... So it's not just Amazon. Yeah. And some of the other products that I was looking at, I can't find anywhere. To the point where I was doing searches to see if linksys still existed. Um, because for some reason... Yeah, and all Amazon has is refurbished products. I didn't look for this Atlas Wi-Fi. But it's not coming in.
06:00
Speaker 2
Purchase the Lingcis products through Amazon. They are our current authorized distributor. Oh, yeah, if they still have it. It's on Amazon. Most of our products are at Amazon. Yes. We don't have any distribution with the local stores yet. We still have them on Amazon as of the moment. [silence]
06:00
Speaker 1
Coming up, when I do the search, it's not coming up as being on Amazon either. So, I'm going to go directly to Amazon and see if I can find that there. If you could just bear with me. That's what I'm... OK. So that is coming up when I search that way, but when I just search, because I didn't know what product I should be looking for. So, when I was just searching Linksys extender, Wi-Fi extender, it wasn't coming up at all. All that was coming up was, [silence]
07:00
Speaker 2
[silence] You make sure that you type in the Linksys Atlas Wi-Fi 6. Yeah, because the Linksys Extenders are different products from what I have recommended. Our Linksys Extenders are already being discontinued. [silence] Yeah, because the Linksys Extenders are different products from what I have recommended. Our Linksys Extenders are already being discontinued. [silence]
07:00
Speaker 1
OK. So, you're... OK, so this is a router. When I pull it up, it's a router. I already have a working router, it's Linksys. [silence] Now, what should I expect, because I've had [silence].
08:00
Speaker 2
That's a different product but this is a new product which is our links mesh system which you can just connect it wirelessly to the main router. Right. It's a router. Hmm. Okay, um, as I've mentioned, you can connect this wirelessly to your MR 9000 as a mesh, because again, this is a mesh product. Mesh product works, okay if you connect this to the main router, a Linksys router that is also a mesh, which you have one, you can connect it wirelessly or wired, they will be connected in the same Wi-Fi network, this will extend your Wi-Fi and that's how the mesh works.
08:00
Speaker 1
the mr. 9000, and it's been wonderful um, for five years now. What kind of life expectancy should should I expect out of the mr. 9000? All right. So, if I have the the Atlas Y6 router that I'm using like an extender, and do I really need the mr. 9000 then?
09:00
Speaker 2
mm-hmm. This is actually, this is actually more upgraded than your MR9000, to be honest. That MR9000 is an updated model. This one is Wi-Fi 6. So, if you connect your devices to the Wi-Fi 6, then it did better. Works better. Yes, of course. In a mesh system, you need to have a main router on that system in order for the mesh to work. So, it's like if you set up your Atlas 6 to that certain area, for example, you put them in two different places. While you roam around inside your home, you have a Wi-Fi connection.
09:00
Speaker 1
Okay. And I, you know, I am not a tech person. So, I'm just trying to work my way through this. You know, I know I have an issue in one area of my home, and I just, you know, as a novice with no technical, you know, real background or anything, just trying to work my way through. And I'm seeing things, you know, different technology, different terminology, I should say. With the Velop, I don't even know. Do you say Vlof or do you say Velop? Velop. Okay. So, I mean, do I have to worry about um, is this Atlas 6 router a Velop? And do I have to worry about the MR9000? I don't think it is a Velop. I've not seen anything that tells me that it is. I've seen that it's the mesh but I haven't seen that the different lines of linkage models like which would be any other options that I would have for the MR 9,000?
10:00
Speaker 2
You don't have to worry about that. Um, again, I've mentioned this is only a product name. We have different products and we have names for them. For example, this one that I recommend, it's called Atlas. For the other products, they are called V Sham. Hmm. Yes, it's just a different model name. But usually they are the same mesh system. Well, to be honest, as a technician, then you have to upgrade, because we are now on Wi-Fi 7. If you want another option, then just go ahead and upgrade for Wi-Fi 7. Well, now, really.
11:00
Speaker 1
Okay. Okay. So that would probably be a big jump for me to go from a five to a seven instead of a six. Okay. All right. And the other extenders have essentially been um disconnected, I mean, discontinued. Okay. All right. And I do have a mesh router so I should be able to use those products. All right. And if something happens, be it due to age with the.
12:00
Speaker 2
Sure. If they already restock the Wi-Fi 7 system that we have for you to check that is LN1610 or the product name would be easier. It's Linksys micro 7. I'm Yes. Range extender products of Linksys are already discontinued. All our products are now mesh products. Duh. Yes. You can just purchase a mesh Linksys product and then you can connect it to your mesh router.
12:00
Speaker 1
My MR 9000, I just have to make sure that I would buy a new mesh router to work with with these mesh. I don't even know what to call them now. Um just part of their are these nodes or how how do I refer to these? Okay. So the the mesh system the components in the mesh system are nodes. Okay. And I'm just looking here. And you know I mean the things that I'm finding um are like some of the extenders that are still out there like on Walmart. And I know Best Buy is out there with a Vilo mesh extender.
13:00
Speaker 2
that is correct yeah okay um for the newer ones they are called nodes yeah yes
13:00
Speaker 1
And they're saying, you know, it only works with a Velop router. So something like that would not work with my MR 9000 because that is not a Velop, it's just a, it's a mesh, but not a Velop. Okay, if I give you the model number, can you tell me if this is a possibility that it would work with my current router? I do have a model number. Okay, it's Linksys Velop Mesh Wi-Fi Extender. WH Sync. Series.
14:00
Speaker 2
The question is, is it a mesh? As long as it's a Linksys mesh product, it will work. Again, the VLP is only a name as long as that product is a mesh product. It will work with the router that you have since the MR9000 is a mesh router.
14:00
Speaker 1
W0101T NT suites. That will. Okay, okay, all right, I just presume that this is not as new a technology as the Atlas. Okay, okay, all right, so you've given me basically two choices, I could go with that model number I just gave you or I could look at going with the
15:00
Speaker 2
Yes, that's a mesh that will connect to your MR-9000. As I have mentioned, they have different product names. As long as it says they are mesh, it will work with your MR-9000. Regardless if it's Avell, regardless if it's some micro or Atlas, as long as they are mesh, they will connect. Yes, it's not. This is our first generation mesh product. But it will connect to your MR-9000 and wirelessly. [silence]
15:00
Speaker 1
[KEEP_UNCERTAIN] Okay, right, and I'm looking on Amazon, it's showing as an Atlas Wi-Fi 6E router Home, Wi-Fi mesh system, dual band, 6,000 square foot coverage, 802.11AX, up to 75+ devices, that really sounds like this is overkill, speeds up to 3Gbps, 3 gigabytes per second. Um, where do what would be the model number on this? And this is a 3-pack, so that that is way overkill for me.
16:00
Speaker 2
yes, and that's up to you. Well, yeah, I've mentioned it depends on you, then you can just choose either one that you need. It basically depends on how many noise do you need.
16:00
Speaker 1
Okay, all right. So, yeah, and that three-pack node on Amazon is $133 and the two-pack is $150. But I see a single one now, dual band, 2000 square foot coverage, okay, and that is $100. So that's what the difference is. So they all be the same model. Do I need a model number to confirm that I'm, you know, looking at the right thing or anything like that? It says Atlas Wi-Fi 6 router, home Wi-Fi system, dual band and the single. Okay. All right. So those would be two of my best choice.
17:00
Speaker 2
[silence] what what is the product name on the Amazon as far as it says Atlas tick? [silence] okay. as far as they have the same product name, then that's good.
17:00
Speaker 1
choices then. [silence] Okay. All right. And I'm just seeing if I had any other questions. Um, [silence] and [silence] again, any idea what I should expect, how long I should expect my MR9200 to live, what an average is for a router life expectancy? Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. So if I [silence] start to have problems with it, I could call support and run a test or something. Okay. All right. That's fine.
18:00
Speaker 2
Yes. [silence] Well for us [silence] as a technician router, we [silence] advise customers to replace the router every five to six years. But if it's still working, then that's good. And if it's not, then we can determine if it's if it will still going to work or not. We have an option for that. Yeah, to check if it will still work. Yeah. Sure, yeah. We can check that out with you.
18:00
Speaker 1
so far it's been fine but again if the life expectancy is five to six years I figured that I was probably nearing the end of that. So we could be on borrowed time. We won't know, you know, if I start to experience any problems, I will call though and ask to run the tests. Okay, all right, that sounds good. I think that's all the questions I have for this evening. So thank you. All right, and the MR9000 is still being supported by Linksys. Is there a deadline? Okay, all right. Well, thank you very much for your help. All right, but you too, bye bye. Bye.
19:00
Speaker 2
Okay. Yes, yes, please. Just call us if there's any problem with that. You're welcome. No worries. Thank you for your time. Sure. There's not a deadline yet, but we still support the MR8000. You're welcome. No worries. Thank you for your time.
19:00
