Connect one of my link's this router as a parent node and try to connect and create a new child node for model M1 MR2200 AC. They're both the same model. I seem to be having issues as every time I try doing the whole like click five seconds on the reset button on the parent and try to connect through the app, it's giving me issues and the child node doesn't seem to be connecting. It's either keeps flashing purple or is solid red.
05:00
Speaker 2
yeah But, OK, so right now you've lost connection in all of your nodes. Oh, you're trying to connect a new node. All right. Can I have the model number and the serial number of that new child node?
05:00
Speaker 1
X 4200. and the serial number when you're ready? 38 umbrella 10 Mary five six Charlie one five nine two four. Uh, so I've had this note for a while but I'm just connecting in now. Uh this was about a year ago. Yeah about yeah
06:00
Speaker 2
yes go ahead okay so this is newly purchased sir oh okay so do you happen to know the exact date of purchase of this particular node one year ago okay All right so right now uh
06:00
Speaker 1
yes, yeah, it's literally a foot away. So, I have tried pressing the reset on the Paranone five times, and I tried connecting through the app, but it doesn't seem to be working. Okay.
07:00
Speaker 2
[silence] this new node, is it is it close to the parent node, like is it 5 to 6 feet away from it? And, uh did you already press the reset button of this child node? [silence] Okay. [silence] All right. So, here's what we're going to do. I see the reset first on the child node. And, once we reset it successfully, we'll do the, uh, five press again on the parent node. So, um, right now, the, uh, child node is, um, it's, it's a foot away from the parent node. And what is
07:00
Speaker 1
the current of which one of which [silence] No, just a solid purple. Correct. Yes. Yes. Okay, I can just walk my computer real quick. All right, I'm back on my computer.
08:00
Speaker 2
the current led indicator. The light, what is the uh the color of the led indicator on top? On the child node. It's solid purple. Okay. Do you have any computer available? Can we use that computer for the mean sector? Okay. yes, 'cuz since you've already tried the file press.
08:00
Speaker 1
Okay. Sounds good. Okay, and what is the, um, URL? Yes. Yes. Laptop, Wi-Fi. Mac, Mac operating system. Hmm. The default name of my network? Oh, uh, no. Yes, correct. Yes, correct. Nova, before. [silence]
09:00
Speaker 2
And is it running on a Windows operating system? Oh, it's an iMac. Okay. All right. Now, since it's connected, what's the default name of your network, by the way? I mean, your, your network, your wi-fi name. So, you, you set up a different name, right? For your network. Oh, yeah. So, what's the name of the network?
09:00
Speaker 2
All right, so can you kindly open up Google Chrome? And then on the address bar, type in HTTP://my router. My router.local. Two forward slashes. HTTP://my router.local. Uh, common again. Uh,
10:00
Speaker 1
OK, this is the connection, it's not private. Okay. It's giving me a spinning wheel waiting. OK, it's asking for access V E L O P. Okay. I got the password. It's the Wi-Fi password. OK, I can do that.
11:00
Speaker 2
Yeah, that's fine. Just allow it. [silence] Uh just uh proceed and just go to advanced and then proceed or continue. [silence] okay, so it's asking for password. [silence] Um that's actually that is a router password, sir. [silence] So did you happen to change the router password when you set that up before because by default it's the Wi-Fi password. [silence] Okay, so were you able to log in?
11:00
Speaker 1
I'm entering my password now. One moment please. And is there a reason why we needed to share the the name of the router network? Is there what what was the purpose of sharing the the okay I just No, the name of my on my router. the the settings of my computer.
12:00
Speaker 2
Okay. I'm sorry. What was it again. Sir? Sorry. Are the local the local access earlier. Oh, that's just for the settings of your, uh, computer so that's okay. It doesn't have to do with the Registration yep. Yes. Sometimes uh it will notify you you're going to allow. [silence]
12:00
Speaker 1
Well, I'm sorry, why did I tell you what my router name was for? No, you asked me what my router name was for my network. Okay, well I can change it after. Thank you. All right. And that matters because.
13:00
Speaker 2
the uh the connection or something like that? Yep. So Sir Chris what do you have on your screen right now when you're? Well it's just for the computer settings. Um sometimes the the computer will ask you to allow the network connection for uh that's that's for other wireless devices to be able to communicate with it. Oh the no before. Yeah sometimes we need to ask for that sir for uh for us to be able to uh document it just to take note of everything here. Yeah. You can always change it. No worries. I thought you're using the default name of the router.
13:00
Speaker 1
I'm sorry why is that? And why does that matter if you need to know the name of the router or not? Okay I'm trying to sign in and it's not working. I'm using my Wi-Fi password and it's not, it just keeps loading and it just keeps me back on the logging page. Sure I'll reset the password. All right. Can you change the name on the file, please? [silence]
14:00
Speaker 2
Yeah, default name that's under the right. Yeah, because you have a lot of nodes there. You have multiple nodes. So we need to make sure that we got the correct name for the parent node. Is there an option for you to reset the password? Yeah. Just click on reset password and it's going to ask for the recovery key that's underneath the parent node. Oh, Oh, sure, sure.
14:00
Speaker 1
I would appreciate that. Thank you. Yeah, I just, you know what, I'm. Thank you. Yep. Okay, I'm resetting the Wi-Fi password. I don't know why I have to do this, but I have to reset the password with the recovery key because for some reason it's not working. Okay, admin. It's Apple admin and password. Okay. Right. Mhm, mhm. Okay, I'm in. Yes. Yes. The Linksys Smart Wi-Fi tools, yeah.
15:00
Speaker 2
If you don't want me to put that in here sir. No worries. I can always take it out. It's all right. I understand. Okay. All right. So, are you able to log in? Yes. So did you enter? Okay. Uh you need to create for a new password I think for the router. So it's asking you to create a new password for that. Okay. So are you on the setup page of the router? Yes. Okay. Can we click on CA?
15:00
Speaker 1
yep okay yeah okay add child wireless node right okay I clicked on it nothing's happening switch on it I go click apply or The parent no, solid blue, and the child node is purple flashing. I clicked add wireless child node, and nothing happened. Yep. It's now red flashing red. Okay. Well, um, okay. It's flashing red. Okay. So flashing red's normal then. Hello? Yes.
16:00
Speaker 2
[KEEP_UNCERTAIN] If there blinking. you so it's uh... purple flashing it's right okay so all Okay. Well. Wait for that. So. well. Way for it to turn. Oh. Okay. So. It's uh... trying to pair. which your uh... parent. Oh. Right now. So. We'll just here. your probably we're go. M. Take a while. Go. Yeah. Ma to you. Yep. Sometimes it. A take what's a three to four minutes before it. Sal ple. car. yeah sir. I'm here. So we'll just. Can. we for
17:00
Speaker 1
Okay, well it's flashing red right now. Okay. Okay. Okay. It's solid blue.
18:00
Speaker 2
For that to, uh, sapp a connection, so we'll wait for it to turn solid. For the light, for the child load night, uh, light to turn solid, okay? So it's solved. Yes, I know, uh, yeah, it's flashing red, so we'll just wait for it to turn solid. It takes time. It may take three to four minutes before it established a connection. [silence] Okay. All right, so it's solid blue.
18:00
Speaker 1
Oh, it's now flashing blue. Okay, and that's back to solid red. Okay, I see what it's doing. Okay. No problem. Flashing blue? Flashing blue. It's like a white, light blue, and then a dark blue.
19:00
Speaker 2
Okay, yeah we'll wait for it. Okay, say it's solid blue now. Is it solid blue or flashing? Okay. Okay. [silence]
19:00
Speaker 1
One moment. Did pierce be solid? Yes, but when it goes all the blue, it sometimes flashes, so I'm just, want to wait till it's firm. So far still. still solid. How would I be able to check the status of this child node?
20:00
Speaker 2
Is it still flashing, sir? Or it's now solid? [silence] Okay, so is it solid blue? Okay. If you go to the, uh, you can use the app, okay? And check, uh, whether, um, it added the node, the child node.
20:00
Speaker 1
Okay, it says two nodes, it's his network device offline though. So I'm on the Linksys uh app. It says last five connections. I can go on devices. I click on device and I don't see it on the device list. Uh I'm using the Linksys app. I can also use a Linksys Smart Wi-Fi tool page but we haven't is that the the myrouter not local. [silence]
21:00
Speaker 2
You can also use the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Tools page, check the device list. If it's online there, Uh is that on the device list? Yeah. Uh, are you using the Linksys app or the, uh, the Smart Wi-Fi Tools page? Yeah.
21:00
Speaker 1
Okay, I can check the on the, my router local. So should I click okay, cancel or apply with the ad wireless child node session? Okay. And then where do I go? Checking device what's in the left panel. It's waiting. So it's a, there's two items. It says Linksys and it has the number, and then different link says also online. One has like the Wi-Fi signal in the other has like three dots with like an arrow. Yes. Yeah. So this one says signal strength is negative 33. DBM. Nothing.
22:00
Speaker 2
uh press OK. Yes and uh check the device list. Uh huh. That's the wired one, then the other one is the wireless. So uh how many nodes do you have in total? Again, you have two right? Yeah. Yes, so that's the child node.
22:00
Speaker 1
Okay. I see. Okay, great. Great, thank you. Okay. Okay. So next, yeah, so how far away can this child node be while producing the mesh Wi-Fi?
23:00
Speaker 2
Actually, the, the one, other one which has the, the three dots, that's the parent node, that's the main node. So, they're both, they're both online right now. They're both connected. So even the child node is, it's actually working. Okay, so Chris, so what we actually did, sir, is we added the child node using the user interface, because sometimes it, it won't work with the iPress or the Linksys app as well. So, other option is to add it from the user interface or the web interface of your Linksys. Okay? All right. So
23:00
Speaker 1
Okay. Okay. And if I were to check my parent node, if it's on bridge or router setting, where can I check that? Okay. Okay. And how can I change it if I want to change it?
24:00
Speaker 2
25 feet away if you're getting low signal. Yeah, so just make sure that you still have solid blue light on the child's node, because that indicates that it's still, yeah, it's still getting a connection from the parent node. You go to the troubleshooting option. And under status, you have the report. So you would be able to check the connection type, of it's on bridge or it's on DHCP. If you want to change the setting, the Internet settings of your router, you can go to connectivity. And then under connectivity, you have Internet settings.
24:00
Speaker 1
What's the difference between bridge mode and DHCP?
25:00
Speaker 2
Then you can edit the internet connection type by default that is but you can set it to bridge mode. That usually depends on your internet settings sir. So if your modem the one from your internet provider is a gateway, okay, you can set your Linksys router as a wireless bridge or as a bridge, okay? So once you set it as a bridge, the router capability of this Linksys will be disabled. So the main router will be your modem or the gateway from your internet provider. So you can do that if you have a gateway or a modem/r router, the one from your internet provider. But if it's a plain modem, you cannot, you cannot set your Linksys to bridge.
25:00
Speaker 1
I see. So if it's a router, it has its own private network then? Okay. And I do apologize. I see. [silence]
26:00
Speaker 2
Yes, cuz the router can route um can connect multiple devices at the same time. So if you have a modem plan modem it only uh connects uh one device uh at a time. So if it's a gateway so it's a modem slash routers so it has router capability. So if uh if you're if you have a modem slash router from your internet provider uh and you you connect a uh another router so you have two routers in your system um uh the router has its own firewall. So it's it's something like you you're um connecting a firewall to another firewall uh so then .]
26:00
Speaker 1
I see. And where can I change that again? Okay.
27:00
Speaker 2
thing like that. So that's the that's the purpose of a router. It's under connectivity. And you go to internet settings. So there's connection type. Then by default, that is DHCP. You can just set it to bridge mode. So that's if your your box from internet from your internet provider is a modem router. You can set your Linksys router to bridge. So if you want to make your modem router the one from your internet provider as your main router, not the Linksys. So the the Linksys router will act as as
27:00
Speaker 1
OK. Thank you very much for help today. no that well by now thank you. you well by now. Thank you.
28:00
Speaker 2
