V2 Grader Summary

The agent performed technically accurate troubleshooting but failed to achieve a confirmed resolution. Despite nodes reaching solid blue, the customer never achieved internet connectivity on the Linksys network, and the agent did not verify success with a conclusive end-to-end test. The absence of empathy and poor adaptation to customer confusion further diminish the outcome.

V1 Case Analysis

Customer unable to get internet after ISP upgrade; Velop mesh nodes show pink/purple lights and no connectivity. Agent attempted IP config checks, node resets, cable re-plugging, and incorrect 5-press pairing. Issue unresolved.

Troubleshooting Steps
  • Guided customer to disable Wi-Fi on PC and run ipconfig.
  • Attempted to access router admin page at 192.168.1.1.
  • Instructed reset of parent and child nodes and attempted 5-press pairing (incorrect for Velop).
  • Re-wired Ethernet cables from ISP modem to Linksys parent node and from parent to child nodes.
Key Observations
  • Agent appeared uncertain about hardware topology and port functions.
  • Multiple contradictory instructions (e.g., LED meanings, pairing methods) caused confusion.
  • No definitive resolution was reached; issue remained open.
  • Agent incorrectly applied Cognitive Mesh pairing method (5-press) to Velop hardware.
Positive Highlights
  • Agent remained patient and kept the call active while the customer moved between locations.
  • Attempted to guide the customer through basic network diagnostics (ipconfig, admin page).
  • At [00:23:00], correctly asked for last five digits of serial number to identify device.
  • At [00:07:00], correctly advised disabling Wi-Fi to test wired connection.
  • At [00:59:00], attempted to use troubleshooting report page to assess connection state.
Agent Errors / Gaps
  • Did not collect full product model or serial number.
  • Failed to verify warranty or eligibility for replacement.
  • Provided inaccurate LED interpretations and pairing guidance for Velop hardware.
  • Incorrectly instructed 5-press pairing on Velop hardware (not supported per KB).
  • Misinterpreted blank internet address field as resolvable via 'release and renew' instead of recognizing potential WAN handoff or ISP registration issue.
  • Failed to recognize that bypassing the ISP router may require MAC cloning or registration of the Velop node's MAC address.
  • Did not summarize next steps or confirm a closure path.

V2 Indicator Ratings

Resolution
R1 Not Met Issue actually resolved conf 95%
Despite getting nodes to solid blue, the customer repeatedly reports no internet (e.g., 'The Terrace is no internet connection', 'It's not even pinging'), and the agent never confirms a successful end-to-end connection test from a device on the Linksys network.
R2 Met Diagnostic thoroughness conf 96%
Agent conducts a logical sequence: tests modem directly, checks IP config, accesses router UI, performs resets, uses 5-press, verifies cable connections, and attempts node pairing — all appropriate diagnostic steps.
R3 Met Correct resolution path conf 93%
Agent persists with best-effort troubleshooting despite prior technician failures, attempts hardware resets, re-pairing, and cable reconfiguration without citing warranty or refusing help.
Technical Accuracy
T1 Met Technically accurate info conf 94%
Agent identifies symptom (no internet after modem upgrade), isolates issue via direct modem test, confirms physical connections, checks IP assignment, and investigates router configuration.
T2 Met Appropriate tools / resources used conf 95%
Agent appropriately uses ipconfig, 192.168.1.1 web interface, reset button, 5-press method, and physical cable testing — all correct tools for the scenario.
T3 Met No misinformation conf 92%
All technical instructions (reset duration, 5-press on parent, IP entry, cable placement) align with KB documentation for the customer's Velop system.
Communication
C1 Partially Met Clear & professional language conf 85%
Agent guides the process but loses control multiple times (e.g., 'I know so you entered 192.168.'), repeats steps, and fails to set clear expectations at the start.
C2 Partially Met Confirmed understanding conf 82%
Agent uses plain language overall but introduces unexplained terms like 'release and renew' and 'default gateway' without confirming understanding.
Customer Ownership
O1 Met Ownership & empathy conf 97%
Agent maintains ownership throughout, does not transfer, and continues troubleshooting even after extended effort and partial progress.
O2 Met Proactive follow-through conf 91%
Agent provides specific next steps: 'wait five minutes', 'reset that node', 'plug the cable back in', and 'restart the parent node'.
O3 Met Closure confirmation conf 88%
Agent references prior technician visits and customer's previous attempts, acknowledging the history without re-asking documented issues.
Escalation Judgment
E1 Not Applicable Correct escalation decision conf 100%
No escalation was performed and none was warranted given the agent's continued troubleshooting path.
E2 Not Applicable Escalation prep & handoff conf 100%
No escalation occurred to evaluate execution.
Customer Experience
X1 Not Met Customer effort minimised conf 96%
Agent never acknowledges customer frustration, offers no empathy statement, and remains strictly procedural despite customer's repeated difficulties and prior failed support attempts.
X2 Not Met Tone & rapport conf 94%
Agent maintains a uniform technical pace, fails to adjust for customer confusion (e.g., repeated 'I don't know what that means'), and does not simplify explanations.
X3 Partially Met Overall experience conf 81%
Agent reduces some effort by guiding remotely, but requires customer to repeat actions (e.g., multiple cable swaps, re-entering IP) that could have been better coordinated.

This is Linksys technical support calling. This call is recorded for quality assurance. Please hold as we connect you to a Linksys specialist. Hello? Yeah, we get disconnected. Okay. All right. Okay. All right, so from what I what I understand here, um you have a new modem.
00:00
Speaker 2
Hi, I'm not sure what happened. We got disconnected. So, all three nodes are plugged into power. The parent node has the internet cable plugged into it, and all three nodes are like a pinkish purple. Solid. Yeah, so we upgraded our internet service to a higher speed, and they came out and did that, and they did need to put in a new modem and a router, and I don't know. Multiple technicians came over just because of... They did try multiple times, they couldn't get it right. So the last technician, they had their supervisor come over and he replaced the cable and he said that it shouldn't be a problem. Then, we were at pinkish purple and now two of them went green and the other one remains pinkish purple. And we have this noise coming from it, this high-pitched squeal noise. It's not intermittent, like it's going constantly.
00:00
Speaker 1
Okay, so before we, before we proceed. So you got a new modem and then also a router from them?
01:00
Speaker 2
So every one's from the uh, uh, from the internet provider um, have come out and tried to get the uh, uh, uh, uh [silence] lynx system to work, but they couldn't. Right? and then we I really did an hour um, two different uh, hour-long sessions and gone through a lot of different troubleshooting and I guess got bumped up to the level two, um, with you know. so hopefully we won't have to repeat all the things that we already did or you'll have some other ideas of what to do. but basically it seems as though the nodes are ready to be activated but they are not connecting to the internet signal here. or not somehow recognizing the internet as signals, and it is yup. well, so there's two pieces of equipment here. One is kind of a flat, about an inch tall box that has power, internet, and an optical cable. connected to another black box that has like six black kind of, whatever things and that optical cable goes into that. Then from there, it connects to, what I'll call a router, I don't know. It's a tall, maybe 4x4 tower. and they're both that and the modem are Adon. Let's see, let's name it Adtron. So, I think they've got, I don't know what this black metal box with blue plastic terminals with the optical wire going into the
01:00
Speaker 1
So, so there are three devices before the link is bare nude.
03:00
Speaker 2
modem um it just says optical it's like a skinny yellow wire and it goes into um a port called optical and then there's the another cable that is the internet plugged into it says 10 gig but we only have one gig and then from there that goes to did go to the their router but I've now plugged it into this one the linksys uh well yeah right now we are bypassing what I'll call the router that they provided I've unplugged from that so before the linksys router um
03:00
Speaker 1
All right. How about this? Uh maybe have the model number of those devices that I can check it. Yeah. um um um SD class 8. Okay. Okay.
04:00
Speaker 2
can this flat i guess it's modem and then i don't know what this other thing it's like a metal black metal tray that something things slide into um i don't know what you even recall that devices. Oh, let me see if I can read that. Um uh uh it doesn't say model number but there's something there on this uh the uh the uh the modem which is SDX 632V are the top letters. then there's another set of letters SDX 632V and it's Adtron Adtron. got a serial number um
04:00
Speaker 1
Um, so this ATRON SDX 6632V, is this the one receiving the connection from the outside? Okay. And, yes, and then, yes, that's, that's what it is. And then the parent note is wired to this ATRON SDX. Okay.
05:00
Speaker 2
And there's two other layers of numbers. There's one that's a P N colon and numbers after that. Yeah. Uh, yes. Uh, and it appears to be receiving the connection from the outside via this um, skinny yellow wire called optical. So I guess that's the fiber optic cable coming in. Okay. Yes, right now the parent node is wired directly to that with an either net a flat like ethernet cable.
05:00
Speaker 1
All right. OK. Now, how about this? Before we get started, uh, your computer, is this a Windows computer or a Mac? OK. Do you happen to know if it if it has this ethernet port?
06:00
Speaker 2
patch cable certified Cat5 Cat5e patch cable, something else, and that's what I plug. Yep. It's a Windows, Windows. [silence] [silence] I do have a um a box that I use to connect my um larger um screen at home and I think I can make it work that way so I can plug in to plug this box into the computer and then that has an ethernet cable. [silence] if that's good enough.
06:00
Speaker 1
Yeah. The plan is to connect a computer straight to this Adron, to test if the direct connect connection to it, provides internet to the device. That's correct.
07:00
Speaker 2
Okay. Okay. Okay. So do I. Um. Am I going to take the internet cable out of that I just plugged into the parent node and plug that into this uh. End of my computer? Wire it directly to my computer? Okay. Let me just try that. Hang on. [silence] 1:06000. [silence] 1:16540. [silence] 2:06960. [silence] 60. [silence] 3:30850. [silence] 4:01980. 1:06000. 0:01740. [silence] 5:01940. [silence] 6:00000. [silence] 7:09000. [silence] 8:03500.
07:00
Speaker 1
Okay. and then, to be sure that we're testing only the wired connection, we want the Wi-Fi of this computer to be turned off, So Okay. All right yeah.
08:00
Speaker 2
Okay, that is connected. So, now Con, I'm wired from my computer through this little adapter box here to the internet provider's modem. Mm-hmm. Okay. I'm gonna go to settings and just turn it off. Network settings. uh-huh. So, right now, interesting,
08:00
Speaker 1
uhm [silence] okay. [silence] yes. [silence] yes, turn it off. All right, so does it still say connected? Okay. All right, let's open the uh command prompt of this computer. Uh do you know how to open that? All right, so [silence]
09:00
Speaker 2
the network that we have here. Well, I don't know. It says it's connected and secured, but I'm just going to turn Wi-Fi off. It says it's connected. I don't know if I believe it, but I'm just going to turn that off. The Wi-Fi connection off? Correct? No? Okay. Okay, it's off. Now it says not connected. You aren't connected to any networks. No, not sure I do. Uh like not the four squares, the Windows squares. What? What? Give me some help here.
09:00
Speaker 1
You can try searching it on the search box near the windows icon. Is enter. You can enter, command prompt. Yes. It's a black window. Okay. All right. So, the command we need to enter this command, it is ip config
10:00
Speaker 2
okay? yep. oh, got it prompt, okay, click on that command... this thing come and... yeah, I just, and then whatever I... after I did it, disappeared, but... oh, no, there it goes, now it's come up with a command prompt, and a... you know, the old-school black, uh, screen with white typing on it, when Microsoft Windows, version 10.0. and... C colon... mhm. So I skipped down to a new line. I skipped down to a new line. The last line here where the cursor is says "C: users_perls_". So I'm just gonna type... get onto a new line, so it is _
10:00
Speaker 1
uh-huh yes [silence] just uh type ip config it should be lowercase config c o-n-f-i-g [silence] uh yeah press enter [silence] okay so for the ethernet or
11:00
Speaker 2
Uh, it keeps, it keeps repeating that same. I can just type where the cursor comes in because it's not, it's okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Does it matter if it's caps or not caps or? Okay, IP. What else? Okay. Do I hit enter or...? Yeah. Okay, ethernet adapter, ethernet two, all kinds of stuff.
11:00
Speaker 1
uh, does it show an IP address, default gateway, uh, [silence] for the IPV4, does it say something? All right. What's the IPV4 address? Yeah, go ahead. 162.152.183.9. about the default gateway. [silence] All right. [silence]
12:00
Speaker 2
yep, it has an IP, well it says IP V4 address and then there's a default gateway, a subnet mask, a link dash local IP v6 address. Yep. Yes. 16- you want me to read that? Okay, 163, yup, 163 252 183 9. Correct. 163 252 1761
12:00
Speaker 1
And, what I call this? Well this computer is wired to the modem. earlier it says no connection after disabling wi-fi. Okay. So is it a is it a globe icon? Okay. Okay. All right. how about you try to? [silence] [silence]
13:00
Speaker 2
Correct. Well after, yeah once I disabled Wi-Fi it said no internet connection, correct. Even though, even though it's wired directly. Oh wait a minute now, you know what? Something something just popped up. I don't know if this means anything. It's a Norton thing. It says, connected to new network. Firewall is protecting you on network 2. Automatically scanning for security devices. Turn on VPN for extra privacy. VPN is off. I don't know if that doesn't mean anything.
13:00
Speaker 1
Open the browser, then search for anything, see if it works. It's not loading anything. It's trying. Uh huh. Okay.
14:00
Speaker 2
[KEEP_UNCERTAIN] Okay. Seems to be kinda slow. Oh, let's do not loading. Definitely not. Right. It's spinning. It's, yeah, spinning. But, I mean, got a thousand gigs here. I'm plugged directly into I don't know why it's not coming up. I'm just trying to even just open Google. Um, that's, this is, this is the, this is the, this is the, this is the, this is the, this is the, this is the, this is the, this is the.
14:00
Speaker 1
When - when you installed the - this new modem, what were the next instructions? Did they ask you to call them, register this -
15:00
Speaker 2
Is it a blue circle spinning? No, they came out and did it themselves. The Internet provider, Consolidate Communications, which is now Fidium, and they came out and installed it and couldn't get the Lynx's working. So they put in their router here where it comes in. And then, so this is a group of six rental cabins and we have the service comes into a box, a little house on the back of one of the buildings. And then the way it had been set up and it was working great with the Lynx's, was the parent node served as the router here by where it comes in and then we had two child nodes in different cabins that were distributing the signal. We didn't use this additional equipment where it comes in at all.
15:00
Speaker 1
When you initially when you initially got this modem they said it up and it is working before or it didn't work at all? Okay, bye.
16:00
Speaker 2
do have three of the cabins are hardwired and then three of the cabins just were getting the signal because they're right close to the other cabins. But anyway, they came and installed everything. Couldn't get the Lynxis to work, so they put in a router here and then only one of the cabins was winterized. So now it says the site can't be reached. So I'm not getting the internet on the laptop. Anyway, they uh they had it work. It was Korean from: Nope. Nope. Since we have got since we've gotten the new internet, the upgrade on the internet, we haven't been able to get the nodes to work. And I don't know. They probably didn't really know everything about these kind of things. So, they tried. One person came out and
16:00
Speaker 1
So, I'm just, alright, so, the reconnection to the modem didn't provide internet to the computer. It's, it's blocking it, it doesn't have any uh, like it has no internet right now. Oh, okay, so, I think I should turn the modem off for five minutes and then turn it back on to refresh everything.
17:00
Speaker 2
and then two other people came out and uh they finally just said we can't figure it out and then they gave us extenders that we put at the ends of some of the hardwired um lines but they just don't don't work nearly as well as the linksys did. There's a lot of um lost um speed. They don't really have a seamless mesh kind of thing like the linksys does. Oh you're still there? Right. Apparently that's kind of weird. I I don't know if it had anything to do with that Norton message that came up that said it was blocking um the new network but we can try reloading. well it said it said and it it asked me uh did the box just disappeared here but let me I'm gonna try again and uh and see if it's uh not connected trying again let me go to settings uh okay okay so I anyway I have Wi-Fi off so that doesn't really help I mean I should be I shouldn't have to choose a network I should be connected directly to the network so I shouldn't have to go in go into settings and pick the network um I don't know if there's a way to figure out what was going on with that Norton message but it disappeared I just said okay and it went away I think it would try again I guess I can try
17:00
Speaker 1
OK. Let's try it then. Yeah. And then when you realize that the modem or
19:00
Speaker 2
and load the internet again. I, I, I mean, load Google again. Not connected. Try, try now. It says connecting and, okay, try now. Don't want it to connect now. Uh, there's a flashing thing. No internet connection, no internet access connecting to ethernet. There's a little symbol there. Oh. So, Wi-Fi doesn't do it. And it's Bluetooth. I, I, there's just a, a little symbol down where normally I'd have the wireless symbol, and it was just showing like it looked like a plug, like an ethernet plug. And it was blinking. So, it wants me to connect to an ethernet plug. And it's not, doing it.
19:00
Speaker 1
With the notes are not online.
20:00
Speaker 2
[KEEP_UNCERTAIN] consolidated eidm, oh yeah, yes, yes, and they've sent two different technicians out to try and get it working and they couldn't. oops. I keep mom. I'm not sure. Yeah, I don't know. I don't he had a computer with him. The first guy had a computer. but I don't know quite what he did.
20:00
Speaker 1
All right. So there may be flashing red above. [silence] All right, well, let's reconnect the parent node.
21:00
Speaker 2
[silence] Uh, you know, I'm trying to see. I don't see on this particular on on the modem, the primary modem. Um, there's no, I don't see any place where there are any lights not flashing and I don't know where they're would be any lights that would flash. Uh, no, I don't see any lights. [silence] So I am just using the cable that um came from the modem to my computer. Now it's running through this, uh, you know, adapter box. I assume that doesn't bother anything. It's going through the adapter to plug into my computer.
21:00
Speaker 1
Go ahead and connect to the modem. Right, then we need your computer to be connected to either the Wi-Fi of this node or wired to this node.
22:00
Speaker 2
Okay, thank you, hang on a moment. Okay. That is reconnected. Okay. Okay, I can try and connect it to the Wi-Fi. Does that
22:00
Speaker 1
[silence] Okay. And just to be sure that we're on the same page, what's the last five digits of the parent node's serial number? 699.
23:00
Speaker 2
Turning the Wi-Fi back on. And I'm connecting to the network that's our primary network here. It's trying to connect. Okay. Success. Looks like 699.
23:00
Speaker 1
Is it 16986? [silence] So your computer is connected to the Wi-Fi that is printed at the bottom of this node.
24:00
Speaker 2
13699. The last five numbers there. Yeah. 13699. connecting wirelessly to the um yeah it's connecting wirelessly to the internet and the internet cable is not going into their router it's going into the node so it seems like it must be the node that is wirelessly sending the signal to my computer right yeah No no so my my computer is now connected to the name that we gave the um network here that from the internet provider it's not connected to the the name of the network for setting up wi fi on the bottom of the node is like a velop setup D2A that's not what I'm that's not what I'm connected to I'm connected wirelessly to the
24:00
Speaker 1
Yeah. But uh for this instance, we need the computer to be connected to that, uh, the Wi-Fi that's printed at the bottom. Yeah. Yeah, the Vibliot B to A. [silence]
26:00
Speaker 2
To the, ah, let, let me see. Let me find a different one. Now let me see if I can find that network. Got it. And actually, now it says no internet. I don't know why, but okay, set up let me type in. That was D2A. Okay. right. Ah, D2A. Okay. ah, got that. And I'm trying to connect to it. Checking network requirements. Just a blue line. Blue line going. So, I'm not wired to anything. I'm just trying to connect wirelessly to that, right? It says secured, but there's still a line moving along. It doesn't really seem like I'm connected.
26:00
Speaker 1
It already says secure. alright, al that, that, that, that about, what we want so far, so then, open the browser on your computer. alright, then on the address bar, enter this address, it is 192.
27:00
Speaker 2
it says secured but there's a blue line moving along. I don't know if I can get it to open anything. No, it says no internet. It's not connected. Develop setup D two. No internet comma secured. Yep. Okay, hang on a second. Hang on, let me get there.
27:00
Speaker 1
Okay, on the address bar, enter 192.168.1.1. At the bottom, just I think there's an option to continue. Yes, yeah.
28:00
Speaker 2
No. Too many things open here. Okay. So, it just says it's loading. Can I type in the address while it's says it's loading? Yep. Yep. Mhm. Yep. Yep. Okay, I just got a link to this. Why am I getting a warning when I try to access my router settings in a browser? Mhm. There was a continue. We did that yesterday. Continue? Yep, we did that. Okay. Yep.
28:00
Speaker 1
And proceed. Okay. Yeah, click on the picture of two phones. Yeah. Okay, enter the the word admin, A D M I N all small letters.
29:00
Speaker 2
And then download the Linksys app. and she had me just check on, click on the thing that looked like a phone. Whoops. I don't know if I might have, I might have accidentally. I, I don't know what happened. It says one moment. I don't know. Let me go back. We'll try that again. Okay. I'm gonna click on the phones. Waiting. Finning. Okay, so the internet connection is down. There's a thing for access router to sign in. I think I'm gonna just had to try to click up on it. Okay. And connect again. I'm getting weird connections. Hard to connect somehow. there's no internet connection. it's nice. let me. weaker signal.
29:00
Speaker 1
Alright. Okay. I create a new one. Yeah. Well, I think this node was reset. So, yeah, you need to create uh it it's printed at the bottom of the parent node.
30:00
Speaker 2
Okay. And sign in. Uh, we have updated our password requirements to be more secure. Please create a new one. I did do that yesterday and created a new one. Should I do the one that I tried yesterday? Okay. Or not? Should I do another different one? Okay. Another different one, huh? Oh, it's not letting me do it. Uh, reset password. Okay. Okay. Enter the recovery code. Now, is it sending me a recovery code? It's like a text on your cell phone. Oh, the recovery code. Okay. [silence] [silence] Okay. [silence] waiting [silence] one [silence] Uh, [silence] okay. [silence] So, [silence] we're back to create a new admin [silence] password. [silence] That's all I need to do now, just make another new one. [silence] [silence] okay, let's see. I need to have more characters. okay. waiting. right now there's just a bunch of different uh waiting well waiting but kind of grayed out in the background are a bunch of things like network status links for home networking. so we did this yesterday. I don't remember where we failed, but
30:00
Speaker 1
All right. Let's go to connectivity on the very left. And then there's a tab that says internet settings. All right. What is the connection type? Okay. All right. Uh, well. it okay at the bottom. [silence]
33:00
Speaker 2
Okay, so I've got network status, no internet connection. Um, then I've got Wi-Fi settings, develop, establish, D2A. Yup, okay. Internet status, yeah, okay. Okay. Uh, it says automatic configuration, DHCP, all caps. You can go read or you can go read. get okay a
33:00
Speaker 1
Yes. And then, let's go to troubleshooting. That's on the very left as well. All right. Then, so under status, there's a small tab that says report. Click on report. Okay. And then to the, what is the firmware version? Or was it already asked? Yeah. Okay.
34:00
Speaker 2
All right.
34:00
Speaker 1
Now, uh, scroll down to the very bottom part of this page. And then there's there are two tables down at the bottom. First table is for the internet. Does it have an X mark? How about on the second table? [silence] Okay.
35:00
Speaker 2
Okay.
35:00
Speaker 1
Okay. So the only x mark is on the first table for the internet. The only x mark is the one on the internet table. Yeah. [silence]
36:00
Speaker 2
[silence] [silence] I'm okay. [silence] [silence] Hang on Zech. I couldn't hear you. [silence] under one gigabyte, correct? Yes. [silence] [silence]
36:00
Speaker 1
How many eth-port-are there on the modem? Yeah, the ... the Atron ... Uh-huh. Uh-huh.
37:00
Speaker 2
on the modem provided...by the...company? by the [silence]...internet company you mean? [silence] the [silence] okay, so there's two. there's the um [silence] well, two different things. there's the I don't know if there's a modem and then a router. on the modem uh [silence] well, there's an there's three ports there. this one is plugged into the middle one and I can't tell what it says. one says voice and one says 2.5 G [silence] E it looks like. um [silence] don't know what that is. on on the on the router that they provided there are
37:00
Speaker 1
I mean, so the the parent, uh, is wired to that Edmund modem. Is is there another okay? And no, um, so the LinkSys router and then the router they provided is plugged into that device.
38:00
Speaker 2
two. three different ports. And we have three hardwired devices. Correct. The The The device that's an Adtron. They're both Adtrons. The The modem of the parent node is wired to the um first device that is connected to the internet coming in. Um I mean I guess I could try and connect the parent node to their router and have a double router kind of system here. Um but no. Okay.
38:00
Speaker 1
starts receiving the connection from the outside. The modem. Okay. All right. How about this? Can we instead plug the parent node,
39:00
Speaker 2
Yes, so the connection from the outside appears to be coming from this black box and there's a skinny yellow cable, optical cable that's going into, I don't know, whether you want to call it a modem or router, I'll call it a modem, the first device that the signal is coming into. This yellow cord with a green end is coming into the modem. Yes, and there's a cable, an ethernet cable plugged into that, which they had plugged into their router, but I now have plugged into the Linksys parent node. I disconnected it from their router and plugged it directly into the Linksys router into the port that says internet.
39:00
Speaker 1
to the port where the router is plugged in.
40:00
Speaker 2
Um, I'm not too or you mean. So, I have one cable here that is going from their modem to the parent node. You want me to plug that cable into their modem and then try and plug the lin--the lin just into into that somehow? I'm not sure what you want me to do. The the Adron. Correct. Yes. [silence] I'm trying to find the right word. No, uh. [silence] Because it's, the other one works, but it doesn't seem to like the extension cords very much. I'm trying to find the right word.
40:00
Speaker 1
They provided and then the Linksys router is or are both wired to that. Yeah. Okay. Okay. I see. So what I wanted to achieve is to transfer the connection of the parent node to the other port on that modem. The one that's receiving the connection from the outside. Because there's another port, right? the modem. Yeah. Block that.
41:00
Speaker 2
yes. Yes. Correct. Yes. So . Um. So the the router that they provided is not currently wired to anything. I took the cable that was coming from the modem to that router and instead plugged it directly into the linksys. So we're bypassing their router right now. Okay. Uh-huh. And there is another port there. It says 2.5G. The one that it's plugged into [b
41:00
Speaker 1
all right. yeah let's move it to the two point yeah .5 uh just this the same actually and then do you still have the links to the page on the computer uh all right hit okay at the bottom
42:00
Speaker 2
first it's plug in to the 10 GE. I do you want to move it from the one it's plug into and to a different one? So a 10 GE or 2. 5 G look okay. Yep. Okay. And I don't know what that does. if it does anything. Okay. Okay. Uh, I do it's on troubleshooting right now. I can go back to. Oh, no, it's it's up. I can go to diagnostics or status. silence
42:00
Speaker 1
Yeah, hour and. Okay. Try to reload the page instead. Yeah. Okay. Open another tab, instead. Close this one. Open another tab. Browser.
43:00
Speaker 2
I'm on status. I can scroll up or I can go to diagnostics. Uh now it says router not found. You're not connected to your router. If you're using a wireless, check that the wireless is on. If connected to cable, make sure that the cable is securely connected. If you're wireless connection settings. and I can retry. I can go to details. So on the Linksys page, uh hit retry. The same message box. Oh, you're not connected to your router. Okay. Uh I don't know if it's going to let me close this one and I can do details or I can do...
43:00
Speaker 1
I mean, like, no, I mean, just exit out, like, close it. Yeah. The whole page. Yeah, and then, open another 10. Yeah. Like, the plus sign, when you click it, okay. [silence]
44:00
Speaker 2
"details." "Add new Ad, default" "retry." "Huh doesn't want well I can just go back." "Maybe if I hit the back button it'll take me back." of the whole Linksys app? The whole Linksys site. "Okay." "Okay, okay." Uh another search, EminveGG? Okay, I'm I'm back to the command prompt thing." "Can I close that out?" Let's get rid of that. Close. Close. "Okay." "All right. Okay. Uh just go to Google Search. Okay, it's loading"
44:00
Speaker 1
Ah... uh... I mean uh, entered the same address earlier, the 192.168.1.1.1. Yup. Yes. Okay.
45:00
Speaker 2
[silence] It's not given me anything. Site can't be reached. The DNS address could not be found. Diagnosing the problem. I can try running Windows network diagnostics. No. Okay, into the address bar. Yeah, okay, hang on a sec. Oh, my cursor. Okay, so there's 192.168.1.1. Okay. Okay. [silence] Didn't do anything.
45:00
Speaker 1
Alright. Well let's go back to the command prompt instead. Click the search box.
46:00
Speaker 2
press space to play. But, uh... questions about how to contact customer service. Well, I don't know what that means. Press space to play. So I can't be reached. Oh, well, now it's spinning. I don't know if it's going to do it or not. Doesn't seem to like that port. Maybe, I don't know. It's got the, that address, um, tab, but it's just a blue circle spinning. Okay. Reload again, but... Okay. Um... No, remind me. I'm going to close some things here.
46:00
Speaker 1
yes. I think okay. then enter the same command IP config press enter. Uh-huh. Uh, we're looking for the wireless this time, cuz it's connected wirelessly.
47:00
Speaker 2
Okay. Hang on a sec. So, remind me how I got to that command. Oh, I typed it in the search, right? Command prompt. Okay. Screen came up. IP config. Okay. Okay. Unknown adapter, Norton VPN. So, I've got wireless lan, lan media state, wireless land adapter, connection. I'm not sure which... Tell me what you want me to look for.
47:00
Speaker 1
what's the IPV4 address for this question?
48:00
Speaker 2
Uh, I don't have get that I'm not getting that on this. Oh, here we go, IPv4, okay. Uh, it's different now. 192.168.40.137. So take moving to that port, change the IP address. Uh, 192.168.40.1. and enter what? Now, right? Okay. Okay. Okay, hang on, I've got to get back there.
48:00
Speaker 1
Done. .40 .1 [silence]
49:00
Speaker 2
Okay, the numbers were one nine two dot 168. And then one was it? Dot that what was next? We're zero dot one. Okay. Okay, spinning, the site can't be reache refuse to connect. Checking the pro there's a blue thing I can click on saying checking the proxy on the firewall. I I don't know that's an issue. I could hit reload. You want me to check the proxy in the firewall or it doesn't matter? [silence]
49:00
Speaker 1
I know so you entered 192. 168. Again, one nine two dot one six eight. Is this is the laptop still connected to the velub setup?
50:00
Speaker 2
I got one nine six four zero one yeah 164 0 1 uh let me see it's it's trying it says no internet under vel up setup A D well it was it A D A or D two A let me see which one was D two A uh oh it's on the other one let me try the D two A.
50:00
Speaker 1
Okay. All right. Let's go back to the browser. Or what I call this, let's go back to the command prompt. Go back to that window. [silence]
51:00
Speaker 2
And it keeps looking promising, saying, "'secured,' but then in a minute it's going to say, "'no internet.'" "[silence]" "*wtch checks network connection.*"'as your connection was interrupted. A network change was detected," but it's still just the blue line moving along, spinning up top and." *blue line spins in Wi-Fi icon.*"No internet," under D2A.
51:00
Speaker 1
Yes, the search box. Okay, so same IP config, just press enter, yes.
52:00
Speaker 2
[silence] Don't have that opened anymore. So I'd need to type that into the browser? Yeah. [silence] Okay. We're back there. Okay, is there anything after that? IP config, that's all? Okay. Okay. Unknown to transcribe. [silence]
52:00
Speaker 1
What's the F V for? Address yay. What's the default gateway? OK let's go back to the browser then enter that.
53:00
Speaker 2
now it's changed again so IPV4 address 192.168.1.131 and the default is the same as the original it's 192.168.1.1 192.168.1.1
53:00
Speaker 1
1.1. Yes. The one dot one. [ silence ]
54:00
Speaker 2
Okay, the default one. Enter the default address, okay. [silence] 192.168.1.1. Okay, and then the links page comes up again. And, you know, I typed in just 192.168.1.1. What comes up? It is /ui/forward/slash/local/forward/slash/users.
54:00
Speaker 1
Okay, okay, [silence] it's not, it didn't load it yet? [silence] Oh, [silence] okay. [silence] Here, hit continue. [silence] Yes.
55:00
Speaker 2
static://HTTP-blocking.... if I didn't type that in that just came up when I hit enter in the address bar. but the links this page is open yeah. I mean this is the one where we scroll down and hit continue. Is that what you want me to do? Okay, we'll OK. and then we are on troubleshooting right now.
55:00
Speaker 1
So I think I fell a click on proceed or advance or okay Okay I see
56:00
Speaker 2
They've got status, diagnostics, apps, scheduled restart, refresh, open in browser. It just says, okay. If I can click, okay. I don't know if there's anything else. Let me scroll down. I'm just okay. All right, okay. All right. And now there's other other boxes here. Wi-Fi settings, develop setup D to A. It just still shows this device with a green check, the router, and then no no connection to the internet.
56:00
Speaker 1
Hold on. Let's go to trouble-shooting, and then report, click on report. Okay. What is the connection type? [silence]
57:00
Speaker 2
Remember we're still in that other port up on there, modem. I don't know if that matters or not. but, mm-hmm. Okay. it's. Okay, it's spinning. Uh, under troubleshooting now. Oh, there's report. Okay. Yep. Okay.
57:00
Speaker 1
[silence] then? What do you call this? Exactly right below that should be the ip address. Is there an address? Right. Under e.
58:00
Speaker 2
Internet connection. There's two things that say internet connection. One says IPv4, the other one says IPv6, and connection type. Well, one says one says IPv4 one says automatic configuration by DHCP the other one says IPv6 says connection types, connecting. Would it be like a category or would you say local Mac address?
58:00
Speaker 1
[silence]
59:00
Speaker 2
Oh, internet access. This internet access, it's... There's nothing to the right of it. It's nothing there. It's just subnet... It's not IP address. There's nothing here. Oh, down below, IP address, local under local network. There's the IP address, IPV4 address. That was what you're talking about. And that's what we just typed in, the 192.168.11. Internet. It's... no, I'm not sure where... Oh, not the IP address. You're looking at an Internet address? Um... Got WiFi mode. WiFi name. Oh, well, Max? I don't know what... I don't know why it's got max. Max address.
59:00
Speaker 1
So, if you go back to the section where it says automatic configuration, DHCP, exactly right below that is the, nothing okay okay let's restart the modem so the the the modem where the linksys unit is wired into, the one that's receiving the connection from the outside, so plug it to turn it oh yeah so
60:00
Speaker 2
All right. Yep. Yeah, so it says Internet access and there's an address and there's nothing to the right of it, there's no address. Nothing, blank. The Linksys? OK, OK, OK. Can I just pull the power cord out and wait a minute? OK. OK. OK. now.
60:00
Speaker 1
Yeah. You've ended up without it. Plug it back. Plug it back. Yeah. [silence]
61:00
Speaker 2
Is that long enough, do you think? Or wait a bit more? I can plug it back in? Okay. Okay. Okay. Are we going to go through?
61:00
Speaker 1
Yeah. Let's wait for all of it.
62:00
Speaker 2
thanks. I'm giving it a minute to set up. There's also an on off button.
62:00
Speaker 1
Now, do you still have that troubleshooting page on the links? Are you there? Uh try to refresh it. I think there's a refresh button on the, on the. And then if you check the Internet address, nothing. Okay. If you scroll down to the very bottom, check there's.
63:00
Speaker 2
[KEEP_UNCERTAIN] here I don't know whether I I don't know which way I might have bumped that I don't know whether it's on or off. Not very clear. Oming pushed in as well. Yep. Uh-huh. Okay. Yep. I see that. Yep. And it's still the same. Nothing. Oh maybe I have to see the okay button on this refresh. Oh there now it's oh. didn't do anything.
63:00
Speaker 1
1st: uh, porch table. is there an X mark on the same table? with the internet?
64:00
Speaker 2
Mm-hmm. Oh, now the X is gone. There's no X. I don't know about this on-off button on this modem here now. I'm confused. You'd think that when I was putting the power cord back in, I bumped that. Um, I assume pushing it in is on, and to release it, if I push again, it pops out. But now there's, yes. I've tried it both ways, and there's no lights. It's kind of weird. No lights anywhere. Oh, wait a minute. Yeah. Now it's, there's a, oh, there's a light. Too bright here, I can't see. There's a blinking, it's blinking yellow. The power cord is blinking yellow.
64:00
Speaker 1
I know. Well, it was off earlier. So try to refresh it. Click on refresh. Oh, yes. Okay. Do you see that flashing light on the modem?
65:00
Speaker 2
okay. pushing it again. So yeah, out is definitely off. push it in. Okay. So it's okay. now it's lit up solid. The power button's on. but now we have no X in the again may be because it's on the in that other port. okay. on the lynx's page. okay. still no X. uh it's solid. It's oh actually, it's flashing.
65:00
Speaker 1
Yeah, I think it's still putting out" [silence] "All right, let's right to refresh the page."
66:00
Speaker 2
0, now other lights are coming on. Optical light just came on, flashing, okay. Power is solid green and the opticals now solid red. Again
66:00
Speaker 1
Okay. All right, now, how about the internet address? Is there an address now? So, is it still automatic configuration, the DHCP? And exactly right below that, it's still blank. Okay. All right. Now, to which one...
67:00
Speaker 2
back but only in that one spot ok let me see scroll up no still blank yep yep right below that where it says internet address nothing nothing on any of those default gateway DNS DNS 1 2 3 I sort of remember when we first put this when we first installed this I worked through with the
67:00
Speaker 1
you have not written it down some somewhere okay uh let's try this at the very top there's a tab that says diagnostics click that and then to the right of that page there's a section which says internet address uh is it also blank yeah to the right of that release and renew you you click that
68:00
Speaker 2
/ou/ some body and it seemed like we did have to do some things maybe with the DNS numbers. I I remember needing DNS numbers and I I didn't have them. I can't remember what that was all that. No. No. Nope. Okay. Yes. Uh it's well it says IPv4 and the colon is 0.0.0.0. There's a thing that says release and renew. And and then okay.
68:00
Speaker 1
Yes. Yes. Okay, yeah.
69:00
Speaker 2
important. When you release and renew your router's IP address, all connected devices will lose their connection to the Internet. All devices will reconnect once the process is complete. Do you want to continue? Yes. Okay. Waiting. Your router is applying changes that may affect your connectivity. It may take a few minutes. I can click OK. Okay. It's spinning. Waiting. [silence]
69:00
Speaker 1
I know, because when it's in the other port, it's about the same. But I'm wondering, what if the, or when the router they provided is plugged into that modem? Does the router provide Internet? Okay. I think what's happening there is that.
70:00
Speaker 2
Still waiting, so you don't think it matters that it's in a different port on that modem now than where they had it. Okay. Okay. Yup. Yes.
70:00
Speaker 1
Don't register to receive Internet or to have Internet active Internet connection is their router. To that router that they provide do you see somewhere maybe at the bottom or at the back of it its mullet address?
71:00
Speaker 2
M hm. It's still spinning. I don't know what it's trying to do. Okay. Yeah. Uh, let me look. [silence] Alright, so it said to move some stuff out of the way here. Hmm. I don't have the model number. A PR number. The Wi-Fi. something. I don't see anything that says Mac address. over. That's Wi-Fi. model, PIN, factory, ID.
71:00
Speaker 1
This is on the router that they provide. So, what is the Wi Fi name that's printed to the bottom of the air router? Yeah. O. OPS. Yigh. Well going back to the linksys page I is it back to troubleshooting Bob Bob? h about we refresh the whole page and re download the whole page
73:00
Speaker 2
Router, that's off, says model number there's a PN number, no number. FDC ID, HDC, and then some numbers. N number, PN number, scope. It's still spinning? Nope nope it's just is waiting, spinning around. Not secure. Let me see if it'll let me.
74:00
Speaker 1
Okay. and let's go back to the, what do you call this? status tab or I know, so what are you seeing right now? on the page,
75:00
Speaker 2
Let me go back to continue. Okay, so I was in the troubleshooting. It's still spinning. Refresh the troubleshooting page. All right, it did that. Diagnostic. The address tab on the on the on the address bar, you mean? Yep. Well, so I've got the troubleshooting page which I just refreshed and then at the top of the screen there's the address bar. It says, not secure and it's got the HTTPS, it's although the HTTP
75:00
Speaker 1
Oh, I right well I mean the to have that says status just click that then click on report report okay
76:00
Speaker 2
Speaker S: Yeah. Yeah. That's the page I'm on, huh? Can I hit, okay, do you want me to hit report? Speak S: Status. Speak S: And hit okay. Yes. Speak S: Oh, report, wait a minute. Whoops, I got a go back. to that page before. [silence] Uh, Gregory. Speaker S: Okay, report. Speak S: Okay, and we still have no address. No internet address is that what you're looking for.
76:00
Speaker 1
You got this new modem, the router, where was, on which port was their router plugged into the modem? Do they still remember? Yeah, 10. Okay. Yeah, plug this Linksys router back to that 10. Then, refresh, click on refresh on the troubleshooting page. Then let's check if there's an internet address.
77:00
Speaker 2
This one that we just moved it, yeah, it was in the 10 GE was the one we just moved it out of. want me to put it back there? Okay. Okay. Okay. And it refreshed and still no internet address. No. Okay. Refresh again. it's flashing. So, the 10 G.L light is flashing still on their modem still flashing.
77:00
Speaker 1
All right. So, let's hit refresh again. How about the X mark at the bottom? Okay. Okay.
79:00
Speaker 2
Okay, it's still flashing on the modem, but I guess... I guess it's just and no internet address. Let me see. Yeah, it's in the 1 Gigabyte column there, but nothing else. Okay. Sorry. I don't know if it's Gigabyte. It's 1 GBPS. [silence]
79:00
Speaker 1
now which part of the modem is flashing okay should it not link or what should be the behavior
80:00
Speaker 2
[silence] On their modem is still flashing. [silence] Uh the 10 GE light is flashing green. I don't know if that means it's trying to locate the signal. [silence] I don't know. Um I mean you would think sometimes it you know I always think when it's stable it's not blinking anymore, but it might be looking for devices or something so maybe it blinks when it's doing that trying to connect to something. Not sure. I hadn't looked at it before. [silence]
80:00
Speaker 1
Yeah. Okay. I'm wondering if we connect back their router to the modem, if there would be internet again. Let's try that. [silence]
81:00
Speaker 2
That should have been enough time for it to stabilize, if it was gonna go solid green. Okay. Do that. Okay.
81:00
Speaker 1
Okay. So then, yeah, so then let's connect the parent node wired to this router. Yeah.
83:00
Speaker 2
Okay. I'm just waiting here. Yep. So I've got internet back now. Okay. just wirelessly to my computer. to their router. I could try a different one more port. I don't know. Uh, let's see. I gotta head cable though.
83:00
Speaker 1
So, the router only has two ports.
84:00
Speaker 2
got another ethernet cable, hang on. I don't know what this is. It's a 2.5 G, it's the only port left. Planned. There it is. There it is. There's uh, well, now there's four ports, but, so three of the cabins are hard-wired. I can remove one of those that was hard-wired. Um, so there are three ethernet cables plugged in for three different cabins that are hard-wired to the router. So, there were, there's one, two, three, four, there's five ports, but we've used three of them for uh, well, one is to connect to the modem. [silence]
84:00
Speaker 1
Okay. I'm sorry. uh what do you call this so the Linksys routers now wired to the router their router [silence] another day.
85:00
Speaker 2
Um, three are for these hardwired and then the fourth one is the only empty one here. Um, like so I am now connected that way. But I don't know if that's okay. I mean I could remove one of those ports if we if this doesn't work. Uh, those all just said uh, once the hardwired they're into, one gig land and the other one says 2.5 gig land. I don't know how we can tell if anything's changed with latest now that we're plugged in. What do we do there? Go back to the latest page. Right. The latest the browse
85:00
Speaker 1
Okay. All right. Then. Okay. Okay, so, your computer connect it to theWi-Fi of the Linksys. The setup. The setup Wi-Fi. Yep. I mean, connect. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
86:00
Speaker 2
So my is connected through the network that we named here. Through their routers called the terraces. So that's where I'm connected. Do you want me to try and connect on the Veloce setup networks? Okay. Veloce setup and it was what was that one? D2A.
86:00
Speaker 1
lready yeah open the command prompt then enter IP config all right so for wireless what's the
87:00
Speaker 2
so blue line going and not doing anything yet. Alright, uh says BELL labs setup connected secured. Still kind of a blue line but it says connected secured okay okay okay got more.
87:00
Speaker 1
default gateway is the same. No. Okay. Okay. 192, uh, no. Okay, are you back to the browser? [silence]
88:00
Speaker 2
default gateway what we had 192 160.11 161. I'll go back to that. I just closed it. Well, I forget what that was that I type in there. It was No, to refresh the page I had. I just had, it was the um config or something. I do you want me to go back to that page? In the search bar I was I type no. Okay, so where do you want me to go? I'm out of that page now posted. I think it's a smart page. Uh, I'm in my browser, but I'm um
88:00
Speaker 1
I know. So, uh, your computer man, just leave it connected to BEL set up or have it connected to the BEL set up. Okay. So then we go back to the browser and then enter that one, nine, two, dot one 68 dot 1 dot 1. Yeah. [silence]
89:00
Speaker 2
Connected with the Wi-Fi to the other network under the Terrace's network, not the Velo's network. Okay. Yeah, let me see if it is. Uh, yeah, I guess it is. Okay, it is connected through Velo setup, okay, okay, just in the address bar 192 at 168 dot 1 dot 1.
89:00
Speaker 1
yes
90:00
Speaker 2
I'm back to the Linksys page. Down to continue. Ugh... let's see... I'm gonna go to continue. Yeah. Okay. Waiting. Uh, so troubleshooting is up right now. Status. What would you like to look at? So is that on diagnostics or what? I'm on status. Status page now. Report? Report, is that what we want? Okay, report, okay. So. Connection. So, I've got default gateway. Is that what you're talking about? The Internet address and the... default gateway, subnet mask. [silence]
90:00
Speaker 1
Connection type is it two other config, okay? What's the internet address? Okay, let's hit okay at the bottom. Now the network status what does it show you? Okay. All right. Click on in CA at the bottom. B 넣어. Bottom right. It's a [silence] click of the plus [silence] the internet. [silence] Sorry.
91:00
Speaker 2
192.168.40.251. All right. Okay. Shows connected. This device and the router and internet are all green check connected. Let me scroll down. [silence]
91:00
Speaker 1
pretty small writing, it says CA. there uh... there's it's there's this ah... footnotes at at the very bottom. small text. yes. okay and then by the way, the child notes are in the same location, right? okay. uh... did you go to connectivity? this is on the very left.
92:00
Speaker 2
I'm not sure. I don't see it. No, I see added device. external store. something storage. device list. Um. okay, let me go look. uh, oh yeah, I see it. Okay. CA? Click on that. Okay. spinning weight. Okay. So it still says connected. Philips setup D2A. D2A. D2A. They're right next to me. They're like three feet apart. Yep. Yep.
92:00
Speaker 1
CA router setup. all right. So now we're setting setting up the node. So you got to create the Wi-Fi name and the Wi-Fi password. And yes, you can sure. for the Wi-Fi name, yes, enter that on the SSID box. Yeah, enter it on the password box.
93:00
Speaker 2
So I router setup, Yup. Okay. Okay. Okay. Can I use, we have a password that we use for the internet for these rental cabins and a password. Can I use that? It's the same one we've got in all of our published info and everything. Yeah. Okay. Great. So I just type that into under, I type it in under SSID. Yup. Into that box. Okay. Okay. And then the password. Okay. And then click Okay. Okay. And then click Okay.
93:00
Speaker 1
No. You need to click "setup" "no." All right. [silence] [silence] Yes. Well, since the network status shows it's connected, then after after 2 or 3 minutes, the parent node should have.
94:00
Speaker 2
set up node, all right, okay, okay, well, it goes, applying changes, your router is applying changes, I click okay, actually, we going, okay. Does it seem like maybe we're making progress? connected, yeah, that's encouraging.
94:00
Speaker 1
Okay, that's great. There. Now, so you need to, yeah, yeah, yeah, because it's disconnected since you changed the Wi-Fi name. It's no longer the setup Wi-Fi. So you need to go back to the list and then select the Wi-Fi that you created. Uh, you just have to, [silence] and just make sure to add a network, then he'll set it up. And then what he's going to have to do is go ahead and delete that network. Yup. [silence] Uh, and we'll just hand those out to me. Uh, I'll go ahead and get those as well. [silence] Yeah. Don't worry. Half of it's new. It's like I unfocused when adding it.
95:00
Speaker 2
Uh, the parent node is solid blue right now. Yeah. OK. The child nodes are still pink. Uh, oh, it says router, it just came up with a message, router not found. You're not connected to your router. Oh, OK. OK. OK. So, uh, get out of this. I don't know how to get out of this because it's the only choices I have are details and retry and I don't want either one of those. And when I uh
95:00
Speaker 1
to click the Wi-Fi icon at the bottom. Yeah. and then select the Wi-Fi that you created. Okay. Did it ask for a password? So, the Wi-Fi you created. That's okay. If you have another cable, connect this computer wired to the this will then use the password connecting to the password + +otherwise you pay for everything that was on the internet before [silence] you're the same of the whole [silence]
96:00
Speaker 2
Oh, on my computer? Okay. Okay. And then just pick. Okay. Now I use the same name and password as our previous one, but hopefully that doesn't confuse it. Uh, it's not doing. No, it's not doing anything. It says connected. But I don't know if it's connected through the linksys or the original router. I probably should have given it a slightly different name.
96:00
Speaker 1
So, the Wi-Fi on the first router and then on this node is exactly the same. that's okay. We'll we'll do this method instead of adding the child node. I know, that's okay. We'll do this instead. So, at the bottom of the parent node, you need to press the reset button five times. The sequence is like this. Press
97:00
Speaker 2
Um, yeah, I don't. I used up the cable to connect the oh, don't have another cable, I don't think. Um, nope, I don't. Uh. Hmm. Uh-huh. Yeah, I used the same name for this current one that we're doing here now. I should have probably done something slightly different. Oh. Yeah. I can disconnect, I can hit I can I can disconnect under the towers, which I don't know whether it's the old one or the new one. Okay. Yeah. Okay.
97:00
Speaker 1
Release, press release, press release, press release, press release. Okay. Now. Let's observe if the child nodes. OK. Was it pink before before flashing red? OK. All right.
98:00
Speaker 2
Okay. Yep. Okay. Okay. Okay. It's white pink blinking. A light pink blinking. Oh, now it's solid. It's solid blue. The child nodes are one is red blinking. One is pink. Yeah. It had been. I hadn't looked down on it for a bit it's done. One is solid pink and one is bl.
98:00
Speaker 1
so I think that one child node is responding to the setup. The one with flashing red because I think you mentioned earlier before we started all of the nodes had pink light, right? Or purple. Okay. All right. So if Okay. All right. Well, while this is happening, man, I'm gonna excuse myself for a minute. Just stay on the line. I'll be back. All right, thank you. [silence]
99:00
Speaker 2
[silence] That's the pink one? [silence] Oh, the one with the flashing red. Oh, okay. So what do I do with that one? [silence] They did, yeah. [silence] Purefish. Purplish pink, yeah. So this one now that I'm holding has a flashing red light. The other one is solid pink. [silence] sure, no problem.
99:00
Speaker 1
Hello ma'am, I'm back. Alright, so what do we have so far? Do we have flashing lights?
102:00
Speaker 2
yes uh let me just hang on uh let's get back to it uh [silence]
102:00
Speaker 1
Okay. So that other node didn't respond. If it still has a pink light. So let's do that again, the five press on the parent node. the parent node. one, two, three. That shouldn't be a problem.
103:00
Speaker 2
So let's Say it's three meters in that direction. It's three meters in that direction. That's what I drew, um 3mm.
103:00
Speaker 1
Okay. Okay. So the parent node is back to steady blue, and then that other child node there is a blue light as well.
104:00
Speaker 2
okay. The parent node is light pink flashing. And parent node is solid blue. Child node is flashing pink. And it's still solid pink. Oh, let's see. Nope. Still solid pink. So somehow that child is not configuring with the parent. Yes. One has a blue light. Yeah. This other one still is pink. Solid pink. Yeah. [silence]
104:00
Speaker 1
okay. all right, let's reset that node with a pink light. uh, you need to press and hold the reset button, keep holding until it shows a blue light then let go. the regular reason. [silence] but if it shows blue, let go.
105:00
Speaker 2
Um, whoops, I might have flipped off. I'm gonna use an a pen to do it. Try again. Solid red linking, black, red, it's black now. I can let it go. Still black. It's, um, when it
105:00
Speaker 1
All right, let's go. All right. Well, let's go and then let's wait for it to have a pink light or purple light again. [silence]
106:00
Speaker 2
shows blue, let go. Okay. Let's fix it's blinking. It did. Okay. It's blinking a darker blue.
106:00
Speaker 1
Okay, we'll do that five press again on the parent node.
107:00
Speaker 2
still blinking. Oh, no, it went to pink. Solid pinky purple. Okay. Um, Okay, light pink, on the parent node. Blashing, right, think. Parent node's solid blue, and oh, the pink node is blinking, pink. No child is blinking. Now it's blinking grid. [silence] I'm blinking red.
107:00
Speaker 1
it usually takes 5 minutes. So we'll just wait for yeah. Well, you want do you really want it different or uh actually not actually uh both networks exist it's just that we don't know if it's coming from the consolidated router or from the devices.
109:00
Speaker 2
Having a hard time communicating. I guess. I don't know. It's still blink and red. Oh, really. Wow. Okay. Is there going to be a way to be able to deal with the fact that I name the two networks the same thing? No, I just want to be able to have, I want it to be the same. That's what I want. I just didn't know whether we're going to end up with two networks both with the same name, but maybe not. Maybe this will override the other one. Okay. Right, or the link this right.
109:00
Speaker 1
Yeah. But most likely, yeah, let's give it two more minutes. And most likely if the nodes are relocated to the locations, the devices around the nodes are, yeah, most likely connected. To the Wi-Fi of the nodes. Okay. And that should be the last change of its color. Okay. [silence] Okay. [silence]
110:00
Speaker 2
okay, now, now this child is blue, okay, uh, it just went, okay, it just went back to red. okay, now, now it's back to blue again, okay, so it's back to solid, oh, now it's blinking again. you can't quite make, uh, make its mind, it's, it's, um, no, it's solid. let's see how long it stays that way. so far, it's staying solid. they all right now look the same. all solid blue. yeah, it's not showing me two different, um,
110:00
Speaker 1
Yeah, cuz it's. Yeah. OK. Now Actually this is where you can unplug the child nodes then relocate them to the locations the desired locations
111:00
Speaker 2
sites that the name is The Terraces and it's not, there's not, like two of The Terraces. There's only one. So I assume it's coming through the pink box, but... All right, so they're all three solid blue. I know that didn't take a minute or two. Okay. Okay. Okay. Now, here's another problem, a question. Um, so, this, this whole setup is in a, I think I mentioned in the beginning, it's on the, in a little wooden box, uh, on the outside of a building. And there was not enough, um, outlets for me to plug in all the child nodes. So I've got everybody plugged in to one of those
111:00
Speaker 1
uh, sure, let's try that.
112:00
Speaker 2
[silence] I'm going to have to unplug the parent node too. Is that OK? Can I unplug the parent node and then just plug it back in again? Won't that foul up at all? I should, so I should be able to unplug the the child node and the parent node, plug the parent node back in, and then move the child node, right? OK.
112:00
Speaker 1
Okay. Yeah, just give it five minutes. [silence.] Actually, just wait for the parent node to go online. Uh, have a blue light before you plug the child nodes in the other location. Yeah.
113:00
Speaker 2
the fight fit here okay i plug the parent node back in and it's blinking dark blue okay and meanwhile i could go plug the other one back in somewhere else the child nodes okay hang on before i plug the child back in okay so i should wait okay it's blinking blue
113:00
Speaker 1
[silence]
114:00
Speaker 2
No, I think we're getting close. No, I'm good. Uh, okay. The parent note is solid blue. You hold that. So I can try and plug in a child note? Okay. I'm gonna go to one of the cavers. Here it's gonna take me a minute here to do that. Okay. get, Michael's code. [silence] There's a code on the cabin door here. I'm trying to get it to unlock. It's not working. That's where one of these goes, there's going to go. ah, Not working. Um, I don't I don't know how to get to its either a I'm just any of plug to play something in somewhere else. Sure. Um, Well, I guess I could plug that one in over there. Okay, hang on. I got to go to a different cabin. I'll take a minute. Now, the odd thing is I don't know if this makes a difference or not, probably not. Um, I should be able to just plug it into an outlet anywhere. And uh, I mean, the cabin itself is hardwired and there they put one of their routers at the end of the hardwire. Should I be able to swap their router for this for the links this with child node?
114:00
Speaker 1
So, that cable's coming from the app air node. Go, Well, if you wire it, So, the connection should be a wire from the parent, I mean, the other end of the cable should be plugged to the parent node and the other end should be on the child node. That's how it should be. Okay. I
117:00
Speaker 2
So, the signal would be coming from their router. Oh, so that might be different because it's not going through the Linksys wirelessly. It's coming wired. It's coming wired from their router. Let me see. Okay. So I'm in a different cabin now. And the situation here is they have a different kind of a, because they couldn't get the Linksys to work and this cabin was too far away. It was hardwired.
117:00
Speaker 1
Yes, but then yes, but then make sure that the other end of this cable goes to the back of the parent node. Yes, but if you want the nodes to work in this location, well, wired, it should be wired to the parent node. Well, there are only two child nodes, so, you should be able to. [silence] There are like four ports. [silence]
118:00
Speaker 2
They put the hard wire, maybe I could take this hard wire and put it into the back of the Lenk's child node. Can I do that? Okay. Yeah, no, so the cable is going, this cable, all three hard wired cables are going into the internet company's router, the parent node. And I don't know if there are enough ports on the parent node. We've got three wired connections. I guess I could do that. I'd have to switch the see if I can if I can [silence] right, no but I'm saying
118:00
Speaker 1
Yes ma'am. So the first first and then the other end should be nodes not the consolidated modem or router. Yes. [silence] Yes.
119:00
Speaker 2
You're saying, so there are... On the, on the, let's see, on these nodes, there are, how many ports? Oh, there's quite a few ports. So, what I would need to do is take the hardwired cables out of their router and plug them into the parent node? Uh, yeah. Okay. Okay. I will go do that. Okay, let me make sure I understand here. So, they're a modem right now, we have our, we have the parent node plugged into their modem. And then also plugged into their modem are three separate hardwired cables to different cabins. Uh, so those hardwired aren't going to be working with the Linksys, unless I unplug them from their router and plug them into the back of the parent node. [silence]
119:00
Speaker 1
That's right. All right. Right. Yes. So the cable should be, like, in this, the end of the cable that's going to the child node should be plugged to the very bottom, for all right.
120:00
Speaker 2
Okay, so, I will go do that first. No, it's on the back of Michael's house, my husband was just asking me a question. Noit doesn't? Okay, and once I do that, then I should be go, able to go to the end of the, and this is the way it was before, go back to the other end of that hardwire cable and plug it into the back of the child node. Correct? Okay. Mm-hmm. Needs to be plugged into the parent node. Okay. Okay. So it'd be coming from the parent node all the way to the other cabin and then the child note plug. Okay, let me try and do that, just go back. see. That ends. tangling wires here.
120:00
Speaker 1
okay sure not a problem so is the parent node still
122:00
Speaker 2
All right, so I now have all three hardwired cables plugged into the back of the parent node. and I'm going to go to the other cabin to the other end of the cable and plug it into the child node. It's taking me a minute, a couple hundred feet away. Thank you for your patience. I really Yup. Uhm, I'm, I'm not there now. I just walked over to the other cabin, but it was blue when I last looked. And now I just gotta power this one uh um. Wait for a second. Thank you. All right.
122:00
Speaker 1
yes. to the very bottom. okay so for this trial, uh it have, or how long has it been, that it has a blue light? okay. well, we have to wait for the blue light.
124:00
Speaker 2
What port do I plug it in on the back? I should put it in the internet port on the back of the child. [silence] Oops. Yeah, okay. Right as you open it. The child node is blue. Plugged in, connected to the ethernet cable. [silence] Uh no, I don't know what I can do to test anything. Let me see if I have internet here. Um, my phone, if I do settings, wifi. [silence] Oh, you know it just went to red. Okay. It was blue and now it's red. Blinking red. Okay. [silence] Oh, it just went blue. It's solid blue.
124:00
Speaker 1
Okay. right. Um, yes. It should be available. Okay. Okay. Is it working? [silence]
125:00
Speaker 2
Okay. Now should I be, able, to, check my, uh, internet connection? Uh, the, uh, terrorists? Okay. It, it's taking, uh, says it's working. let me just do a, uh, speed check just to see what it's doing. course, the speed check has a, uh, ad.
125:00
Speaker 1
Do those still have a blue light the child know
126:00
Speaker 2
[silence] And you don't have a speed check on your phone, I don't think so. Yeah. turn it off. I'll try I'll just I'll just try it again. Okay, doing a test. What's going on? It's not even ping-ing. Hmm. What is it doing? It does have a solid blue light, yeah. Um. I think I got to make sure I've got the right network here, but setting, Wi-Fi. Oh, so now it says the Terrace is no internet connection. I wonder do I need to keep their router and do the same thing.
126:00
Speaker 1
Ok, are you sure? So, the other router in the room is off. Ok, ok
127:00
Speaker 2
something and plug the, um, links upstairs into their router here. That's a different kind of a router. Actually, this is an extender called. They called it. So I do not have-- uh, I unplugged their, it's called an extender. Um, they call it an extender. Um, I unplugged it and replaced it with the child node. I plug the hardware into the child node and I still follow the glue, but it's not giving me an internet connection. Let me just see if there's any other. I don't know whether it's-- I'm going to join--
127:00
Speaker 1
Let's try this. Have your phone forget the Wi-Fi and then reconnect. No, like, have your phone forget the Wi-Fi. So if you're on the Wi-Fi list, I think you can press and hold the Wi-Fi and then it'll give you that option to forget it. Is this an iPhone or an Android phone? iPhone. Okay. Yes. Then turn off and on the Wi-Fi.
128:00
Speaker 2
I mean, there's only one, the tarases, so there's two networks here now, with the same name, but it's not showing up, there's no other networks, nope, oh, I want me just want me to turn the Wi-Fi off on my phone, how do I do that? Yeah. Oh, okay. it's an iPhone. Yep. iPhone. Forget this network. Okay, so forget this network. Okay. Forget this network. Okay. So now we'll see if it's detect.
128:00
Speaker 1
The reconnect, should ask for a password, okay, enter the password. Okay. You can try fasts.com. [silence]
129:00
Speaker 2
Okay, it's just doing something now. It's loading. I don't know what I just did, but that's all stuff. I can't get it to do anything. I don't know. I got a blank screen loading and it won't let me do anything. I'm I can shut it off. Okay, let's see. Okay, I can test it to test again but it's just not doing anything. I'll do re-test. Okay re-test. That's great. It's not even pinging. It's not even trying. I don't know why.
130:00
Speaker 1
So is there another device is there another device in this room that you can connect to the Wi-Fi and then test ok, ok, so let's review the connection the child node is wired to the parent node, right [silence]
131:00
Speaker 2
Oh, hmm. Right. My... finder cannot connect re-try. And that's the same page I got with loading, huh? I'll see if I have internet. Now, I get my husband's phone and see if he's got Wi-Fi. Let me just see. Right. Oh, in tunnels. Uh, the child node right now is hardwired to the parent node, yeah?
131:00
Speaker 1
Okay. Now, what happens if we disconnect the cable? On the child mode? The back of the child mode. Okay. Did it change colors? Okay. So, this location is how far from the parent mode? Beautiful. Okay. But then the cable that's connecting the parent note and the child mode is the right cable you transferred to the parent note. Okay.
132:00
Speaker 2
Did the child node change? Yeah, it went red flashing red. It's pretty far it's 200 ft maybe. That's why we did the hard wire. Yep, Yep. I can go check.
132:00
Speaker 1
So this set up is working before. You have this 200 feet connection. Okay. Let's do this instead. Uh connect the cable back to the child node. And then you need to go to where the parent node is and then restart it. Turn it off, turn it back on. [silence]
133:00
Speaker 2
Yeah, I mean, there's just, and there weren't any particular ports, they're not, I put it into, they just say ethernet, and I plugged those three cables into those three things that said ethernet. It was, yeah, it was working great. Yeah, before we got the new internet service, this node was right where it was. It was connected by a hard wire to the parent, uh to the parent Linksys, and it was working great. Um, yeah, um, h-h-h, okay. Okay. Something on. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
133:00
Speaker 1
no need to wait. Just go ahead. Yes. [ silence ]
134:00
Speaker 2
OK, so should I wait? Do I need to wait? This is red blinking. I turned the cable back on. It probably will come back to blue. I assume. I need to wait. OK, I'm going to scroll over and just um. OK, well this one you can bring if you want to use. Okay, so I'm going to just power down the parent node? OK. Okay. Let's see, unzip that back. Make sure that all these cables are Okay, so I'm back at the parent node and I mean, I'm checking the cables are all clicked right in. Make sure I've got the right cable here. This one. This is the one that goes to seven, right?
134:00
Speaker 1
sort of what's happening You need to give it five minutes to completely boot up and have a blue light again
136:00
Speaker 2
Brown, black or the red? Yeah. Okay, so you want me to power off the parent node? Okay. Okay. Yeah, no, we gotta wait a minute. Okay, just waiting a little bit more. That should be good. Okay. Yeah. Alright, and it is solid blue. Okay. Yeah.
136:00
Speaker 1
Okay. so we'll check again the other Location.
137:00
Speaker 2
Oh, no, it's Lincoln Street. Okay. Yeah. It's 2839. That's a good thing. 2839. Unless he changed it. Okay, it's solid blue. Okay. Okay, so standing here, I have.
137:00
Speaker 1
okay yeah that's because even though they have the same
138:00
Speaker 2
connection to the terraces. And I don't know if I speedjack or work standing here, but something's going on with checking because it's not pinging. You're doing anything. Oh, there it goes. All right. So, I mean, wirelessly from my phone. Oh, now the parent no, just went red. Ah. So wirelessly I do have a connection, but I don't know if it's coming from probably not coming from the linksys node. It's coming from there. Wirelessly from there router, probably. It's still showing its uh name. Yeah. Okay. So it was. is red now it's all it's blue again. So I'll go back to the other location? Okay. C.
138:00
