Speaker 1
This is Linksys technical support calling. This call is recorded for quality assurance. Please hold as we connect you to a Linksys specialist. Uh hi Jim, this is Paolo from Linksys customer assurance team level two and this call is recorded for quality assurance purposes. Hello, sir. I'm fine. Thank you for asking, Jim. I'm calling about your MX6200. Is this the best time for us to work with the device? Ah, I see. So, just to verify a couple of things, okay? According to the ticket here, uh you have five nodes and there's one MX62 that's newly purchased. You're planning to make it as the parent node, sir? Is that correct? Ah, I see. But you're, uh, also aware that, um, the remaining nodes that you have, the WHW, they are out of warranty, sir. And, um
00:00
Speaker 1
Right? [silence] I: Yeah. [silence] I see. [silence] I see. [silence] Anyway, uh, we're gonna check this one, so, um, assuming that the MX62 is now wired to your remote, mister. [silence] We have a cable. [silence] Okay. [silence] And then, uh, just making sure, um, at the back of this MX62, there's a yellow line right there. That says Internet. [silence] We have
01:00
Speaker 2
Well, I was told when I bought a new one, because I just bought this within the last, I don't know, 10 days, 15 days, uh that you guys would help me set up. Um, not only the the new router, but make it connect to my, uh existing mesh system. So, I know that they are out of warranty, but you guys, uh that was I was told that when I would uh purchase the new one. I talked to you guys about it. Yeah. Uh, yes. Yes.
01:00
Speaker 1
There's a cable there right? Okay. Perfect. Now if you trace the other end of it, it goes to your AT and T modem. Now, usually AT and T provide a modem slash router and, um it has four ports at the back. Where is it connected sir to the modem. Is it on port number one, two, three, or four? Three. So, one, two, um uh one, two, and four. Are they occupied? No. Okay. And those that are occupied, sir. Uh what are those devices? Is it a computer? Is that a television? Okay. Okay. um the port that the computer is connected to, is it the first, second, third, or fourth port?
02:00
Speaker 2
that'll jump, most positive. Yes. The Ethernet cable is in the internet. Yes. Plug. It is on port number three. One and four are occupied. Two is not.
02:00
Speaker 1
Okay, um, so if, yeah, okay, thank you for that. They're wired and whatever devices they are, they are able to receive internet, sir. Right? Okay. I see, okay, no need to check the the uh modem, sir. Anyway, let's go back to the uh put a parent node. And uh once you power this on, it goes to a default settings and um what is the uh color right now the parent, no, sir. Is it blue? Is it white? Is it red? It's white. Oh. Is white.
03:00
Speaker 2
um [silence] one is going to [silence] let me just make sure. I think they're both going to wired uh connection places within my house. Yeah. Correct. So in other words, one goes to our TV room downstairs and the internet is working fine down there. It's white, solid white.
03:00
Speaker 1
see and it's solved white for this particular model sir unlike your WHW03 okay if they're online they're gonna have a solid blue but for this model it's gonna be white so uh I guess we're gonna proceed to add a child nodes here and there are four child nodes uh it's okay and this five child nodes right now sir is in front of the current now right uh okay perfect now um these child nodes uh have a color purple right now or they're red
04:00
Speaker 2
Yeah. I actually have five what you guys said, you'd only help me with four. So that's fine. But real quick. Yeah. So the internet works when I'm right near the parent node, what we're just trying to do is get the extenders to connect. Correct. They're all within a couple feet, five feet of the parent node.
04:00
Speaker 1
ok now uh for this model the only way uh it has to go to a default settings and when it's purple so we're going to reset the four of them the one that is red okay and let me give you first the instruction uh you've got to press and hold the reset button to the child node okay the light will flicker flicker flicker and it will be off like maybe 15 to 20 seconds but don't let go wait for the solid blue and that's the time that you're going to release the reset button. yes there is no pause for all of them the ones that are red only the one that is pinkish color that has been reset.
05:00
Speaker 2
All. Four are red, one is kind of pinkish purple. Until it's solid glue, OK. And I do that for all of the all of the ones that are red. OK. [silence] Good. Then I'll hold the ones that are red. I'll start it now, and then wait till it turns blue to your point. The woman before had me let go when it turned off, but not when it got back to blue, so maybe that was part of the problem. Okay, first one just turned blue, so I'm gonna let go of that. I'll go to the next ones that second one just started blinking blue and I'm going to the third. I think I can give you both these select times and give a closer. Okay. I've done that for all four. And uh, I'll go back to the first one. It's already red again.
05:00
Speaker 1
Sure. So the first one that you reset, it's a solid red or a blinking red? Okay. Okay? All right. Each of these has to go, reboot for about two minutes for each of them. So I set a timer for the last child node that you reset. So that would be my basis. So, the other ones will catch up, okay? All right. And by the way, before we add a child node, my current.
08:00
Speaker 2
It's a solid red right now, right now. And the others are, are blue blinking. Well, one was blinking blue now just turned red. The second one, third one is blinking blue still. Yeah. Okay. Got it. Yeah.
08:00
Speaker 1
droopied 5 feet long as they're not I I'm right beside to each each other like uh a little bit a bit in space because each of this has trench frequency if um they're too close you Mo the parent node can't seem to find that signal sister we don't want them to right luck.
09:00
Speaker 2
[KEEP_UNCERTAIN] Well, they're in pairings. So one is five feet apart. Two are right next to each other. Yeah. Do I need them all five feet apart? Okay. Well, then I'll, I'll, I'll move them so they're a couple feet apart cause a couple of them were next to one another. So,
09:00
Speaker 1
it's okay all right and then all right so they're all read now there are actually three ways to add in style gym and the good thing is that they're already close to the parent node the first is called the five press method okay now you're going to tap the um a reset button of the parent node that is mx62 five times just like how you punch the numbers on your cell phone when dialing a number uh 1 2 3 4 5 the rhythm is like that one two three four five not one two not like that but
10:00
Speaker 2
Okay, they are now a little bit further apart, but all of them are red again.
10:00
Speaker 1
One, two, three, four, five. Right, ok. Are right. We're going to do this twice, ok? And the basis will be let me know if one of them starts to blink. [ silence ] How about the child node? One of, two of them.
11:00
Speaker 2
Okay. So I can do it. One, two, three, four, five. And I, okay. I'm going to count it out. Ready, begin. One, two, three, four, five. Child nodes. Okay. Um, child nodes. Well, the parent node is blinking orange, now it's solid white. And.
11:00
Speaker 1
[silence] [silence] Okay.[silence] Uh, let's do another uh, five breath methotic answer.[silence] One last time. [silence]
12:00
Speaker 2
they are exactly the same as before four are solid red one is pink. solid pink. okay. Okay. I'm going to count it down and then I'll do it. 3, 2, 1. three, solid white. orange. [silence]
12:00
Speaker 1
I see. Anyway, we're gonna proceed to the next way of adding the child node, but we have to use a computer for this one Jim. Okay, Now, um, obviously this is connected to the network, the wifi name to the new parent node, right? Perfect. Now, we're gonna open a browser.
13:00
Speaker 2
all are exactly the same as before. Solid red for four of them and solid pinkish purple for the other one. Okay. Yep. I got one. by right here. uh, let me just confirm because sometimes it was connecting. Yes, it is connected to the patent node. My network
13:00
Speaker 1
Oh, that one, you're already there. OK. Great, because I thought you haven't accessed that. So I believe you're on the uh main page right now. OK. And let's scroll down the page first. You have to click this button. Oh, it's a button, but it's a letter. Uh click on C8. It's on the lower right. Oh, okay, go to Connectivity. And then, um go to, uh, once you're there, go to uh, CA Router Setup. It's on the far right.
14:00
Speaker 2
I had done that before with the prior technician and so it's no longer there. okay um okay I'm there um [silence]
14:00
Speaker 1
You've obviously been this page now you have two options there add wired child node and add wireless child node. Let's go with add wireless child node. Pick it one. Okay. Is one of them blinking right now? Okay. Um may I Okay. By the way may I know did you install the Linksys app on your phone sir?
15:00
Speaker 2
Correct. And I will hit it. I'm going to tell you, yeah, what happened before is I hit it, it greys out and then about 20 seconds later it just comes back. But I will try again and see if it's any different. So, I just hit add wireless child node, it greyed out. Um, no. And the it's no longer greyed out anymore.
15:00
Speaker 1
okay we're gonna try that too anyway um uh yeah uh can we click again one more time for the add wireless child node it's okay it was clickable and then it's not clickable and it will be back to a clickable again yes nothing has changed okay now if you notice there's an option there for add wide child node okay to do that we need an extra cable an ethernet cable that will connect to the child node and the other end goes to the parent node but we're gonna do that later because uh we have to do this one at a time we're gonna go to your link app
16:00
Speaker 2
I did. Okay. Okay. Okay. I'll click it. I just clicked it and I'll tell you when it goes back to not being grayed out. Now it's back to clickable. And nothing has changed.
16:00
Speaker 1
Okay, let me know if your huh dashboard. Okay. Okay. Okay. Yes, sir. it it it detected a new pair node and yes add wire add add this to your network or to your to your account. Is it asking for a router? Okay, hold on now on the computer, you were able to access that page using a router password. There were [silence] dictated.
17:00
Speaker 2
Okay, I am opening that up. It says, we found a new network. Should I say, add this network to my account? Okay, I'm doing it. And it's saying the router password. Yeah, I gave it my password, and that didn't work.
17:00
Speaker 1
(upbeat techno music) Yeah. Can we take you a router password on the Linksys app? Yes, sir. Uh, can we take you a router password on the Linksys? Let me know if you're onto it. Okay. Okay. Uh, for now, there's one, one node and that is the parent node. So, I would like you to tap this one on the upper left, in the menu bar, the three lines. Okay. Tap.
18:00
Speaker 2
Correct. Oh, it's that password. Okay. I got it. I'm thinking about Oh, that's, okay, it says, it says, it says Internet, offline, zero device. Oh, now it now it says, one node, and 23 devices. Okay.
18:00
Speaker 1
And then the last option down below is set up a new product. And you have their add child node or something. Let's do that. You can ignore them. yeah, you've already done them just simply tap on next. Yeah. Yes, sir. Next, yeah.
19:00
Speaker 2
Okay, I just hit that. Add a node to my network. Okay. Plug additional nodes in the power near router, which I've already done. Okay, next. And node light, it says make sure everything is finished, the light will blink will start up and turn solid when it's ready. Should I go ahead and click okay? or next, node light is solid, or. All right, look it, looking for your child nodes is what it's saying.
19:00
Speaker 1
Okay. Good. Because I'm waiting for that. 8.43. We're gonna wait for six minutes. By the way. Yep.
20:00
Speaker 2
Yeah, none are blinking, the bar is. Oh, wait, one's blinking, two are blinking. Three are blinking. Yeah. Okay, good. Maybe it's working. Well, they started blinking and now they are blinking again, but I'm assuming that means they at least started the process.
20:00
Speaker 1
Sir, uh, this usually takes six minutes, but uh, we're gonna base on on the Linksys app, sir. I think you have a progress bar running right there. Okay. No, sir. Uh, I-I know this by heart. Uh-huh. Hmm.
21:00
Speaker 2
Okay. Yeah. Can you see that also? Oh, that's pretty cool. OK. Yeah, so this could take four to six minutes per child node and the progress bar is going across, so.
21:00
Speaker 1
Okay, is one of them solid blue or blinking blue?
23:00
Speaker 2
I don't think so. Let me look on my keys. No. One is still blue. Blinking red. [silence] Uh two are blinking red. [silence] One is solid red and two and another one's on there. [silence] So two solid red and two are blinking red. [silence] And then I honestly one is still pink. That one has not changed. [silence]
23:00
Speaker 1
Yes sir. [silence] One is this.
25:00
Speaker 2
Okay, one's turned blue. Can you hear me on the one? Yeah, okay, so one is blue, one solid blue, and kind of aqua blue, and then, um, one is still blinking red.
25:00
Speaker 1
Is one of them blinking blue?
26:00
Speaker 2
blinking red. And the last one is still solid red as well as a solid pink one. No, one is solid aqua blue, which used to mean that it was working. So that. One solid aqua blue. Two are blinking pinking red one is tinkish purple and one is and that's a solid tinkish purple one is solid red [silence] Yeah, there's still. Oh, one of the, second one now is solid aqua blue. One that was blinking red is now aqua blue. And hopefully this third one will turn aqua blue here in a sec. Assuming that's what we want, is that correct? Okay. Okay. Okay. Mmm. Mm. Okay. uh, there are two solid blue, one solid red, one blink. In red, and one solid pinkish purple. Uh, okay. unplugging the two that are solid blue. Okay.
26:00
Speaker 1
well the ones that are catching up will also be added. That's what I thought so yeah. Mhm ideally adding the child node, you can you know add three at the time okay, but in your case we'll we'll make it a one shot or okay? Yes, sir.
31:00
Speaker 2
Well, good news is the one that was pinkish purple is now blinking. And that's the first time that's started, yeah. I appreciate it. Yeah. And I believe the MX 600 has a much better range and also improved ability to manage more devices. Is that correct? Then I was using a, WHW03 as my main,
31:00
Speaker 1
Let me, the answer is going to be yes, but, uh, there are certain requirements, Jim, okay? Just let's know. Well, the, the, uh, WHW03 has two has one 2.4 and two 5 gigahertz. Now, for the MX62, um, this one, two point four, one five gigahertz and one six gigahertz. So, if you have a device that's capable of a five gigahertz, that's good because, um, uh, five gigahertz is good with speed, but not with range, okay? Now, um, going back to MX62, uh,
32:00
Speaker 2
knot nodes but uh, that's why I upgraded, so I'm hoping that this should really improve my speed and uh, reliability. Yeah.
32:00
Speaker 1
Same thing with 5 gigahertz on that, but uh the 6 gigahertz is more faster, but it has to be a device that's capable of connecting to a 6 gigahertz. Okay, they're only a couple of them. So the answer is yes, but depending on the device, okay? And are they solid blue now or especially the pinkish one, you said? [silence] We're gonna wait uh [silence] uh 3 minutes more, if none of them well go to solid blue, I may have to add Okay. Uh okay.
33:00
Speaker 2
uh huh [silence] that's cool um [silence] it is still blinking [silence] they're both still blinking [silence] whoop [silence] the one that was [silence] yeah the one that was pink is now solid blue
33:00
Speaker 1
Uh, not yet, sir. I'll- I'm about to say that, but, uh, let's give it like 3- 3 minutes more, and then I'll ask you to reset that. They communicate through channels or frequency. Okay, the one that is blue right now, you can disconnect it, unplug it, yeah, sorry, yeah. We'll wait for the remaining two if none of them will go solid blue. I'll be asking you to reset that. And those two right now, sir, uh, how far are they to the Pericone?
34:00
Speaker 2
i've got two unplugged that were blue before. I've got one solid blue and two that are blinking red still. yeah. it Disconnect make you unplug it. Yeah, okay. all right. I'm unplugged [silence] one is about two feet. One is about
36:00
Speaker 1
The one that is two feet. After we reset that one, uh, add. One feet away from the parent node later, okay? Alright, now we're gonna reset them, sir. The two child nodes and same thing, uh, same process, wait for the solid build, let go.
37:00
Speaker 2
Okay. Okay um i'll start with the first one here um Now.
37:00
Speaker 1
mm-hmm. okay. no need to reset that. and leave it like that. like maybe five minutes. all right. we're making them synchronized properly the one that you just reset will wait for it to have a uh. purple. oh it's gonna do that. you just reset that one. it's rebooting.
38:00
Speaker 2
And now it's turned blue, so I'm letting go. Oh, and I came over to the other one and it's aqua blue, solid, so that one worked. Yeah, okay. Okay. Yeah, it's blinking blue now. Yeah, yeah, exactly. Exactly. Yeah.
38:00
Speaker 1
Okay, let's go back to the app. And what do you have there on the app sir? uh close the app. Silence.
39:00
Speaker 2
the one that was rebooting is now solid red. All right. It's still that bar that says, adding your child node, this could take four to six minutes per child node.
39:00
Speaker 1
and then open it. [silence] uh select there don't want to continue setup quit setup there's an option there don't really want to continue setup uh manage your wi-fi and it's going to ask you for your email and password or you can go to the router password part
40:00
Speaker 2
Okay. Just closed it. Now, I'm, uh, Opening it back up. Ready to complete setup is what it says. I don't want to, okay. Just quit. Set up. And now I can Right, I did that, and then I And now it says manage your Wi-Fi or set up new Wi-Fi network so I'm assuming manage. Yeah, okay. Um, I have my.
40:00
Speaker 1
Sorry. Go to the email and password route, sir. I thought you don't have that, so yeah. Uh-huh. Yes. Oh, it's okay. We're going to skip that. We were going to skip that for now. Uh the South node that is solid blue, is it still solid blue?
41:00
Speaker 2
Email and password right here. I'm fine to do that. Yeah, I just did that. Yeah, okay. I did it. It says 23 devices, 5 nodes. I'm clicking, but it had a red thing on the nodes, so I clicked on the nodes and um, it's circle is spinning. So I'll see what comes up. Well, it's not going to find three of them because they're unplugged. Right? Yeah, three of them unplugged and now it has internet node 1 child node. Okay it is.
41:00
Speaker 1
Let's go back to the app. So you have there again, a three lines in the upper left. Right. Then go back down below, set up a new product. Next, yeah. Yes. right away.
42:00
Speaker 2
[KEEP_UNCERTAIN] k, a new product, okay, add, adding the light is solid that would, and then we're talking about to read, one right, okay, it's sold, looking for you don't know, this could take up to right now, three unplugged and two plugged in, one is still in blue. And one is no just started blink and guess what? Come blue already. Look at that. Yeah.
42:00
Speaker 1
That's fast. It's okay. We're going to ignore that, uh, for now, okay? But, the child node that we just reset, uh, just now, is now solid blue? Okay. Uh, the progress bar, is it still there, or the error message that you just read to me? It's okay, but it did find it. The app is not telling us the right way. But anyway, um, close the app. Close it, but don't open it.
43:00
Speaker 2
And then it said, yeah, that was fast. So it's blue. And my app says your network, we didn't find any nodes. Try again or troubleshoot. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Yeah, it's solid which. It's the error message. We didn't find any nodes. Okay. Okay. Okay, I just closed it.
43:00
Speaker 1
Okay, and then you may start relocating the child nodes there. Um, Oh, by the way, the one that is solid blue, um, two of them, unplug them first before you relocate them. Oh, Yes, sir. You can relocate them, yeah.
44:00
Speaker 2
ri I wanted him because the house I have to go. frustrated sometimes. It's gonna take me a little bit to get right spots as you can imagine. yeah. [silence]?
44:00
Speaker 1
All right, if they're plugged in. We're going to start out. They're all solid blue sir? Let's go back to the first child node that you powered on. Mm-hm.
49:00
Speaker 2
Um, almost, no, well I'm plugging them in, they're in different spots around the house, so when I plug them in there they start to blink blue. Um, I'm gonna have to go back, I mean like I'm upstairs at one bedroom. Yeah, okay, I'll do that, yeah. And see where that one is.
50:00
Speaker 1
Okay, let's go to the second one that you powered on.
51:00
Speaker 2
Okay. We're gonna, we were going to First one I powered on is solid blue. [silence]
51:00
Speaker 1
[talk] [silence] [talk] last one okay [silence] All right [silence] Is there uh anything else that that can help you [silence] [talk] today sir? [silence]
54:00
Speaker 2
Okay. Fourth one is solid blue. So it's looking good so far. Uh, well, I'm checking the last one right now. Yeah. yeah. Yep, it's solid blue too. Should I turn the app back on and make sure that they're all? [silence]
54:00
Speaker 1
Sure. It's working. But yeah, if you want to double check it. Those things, yeah. Don't want to continue setup. Next screen. I don't really want to continue setup. Delete. Manage your Wi-Fi. That rub.
55:00
Speaker 2
um yeah if just in case i'm cause i know and might have asked me to set up again okay loading set up experience uh-huh i wanted to uh do i don't want to continue set up right okay and then i'm gonna have to sign in with the email uh-huh okay kind of pressed which i just did
55:00
Speaker 1
You know. All right. Okay, and uh... You're most welcome, sir. And to know more about the links to this product, you can visit linxies.com forward slash report, and have a wonderful night, sir, okay? Take care now. Bye-bye.
56:00
Speaker 2
This is the first time since I've had your system that I don't have a red dot on the nose, on the nodes. So all all of them are set up. Um some are nested, uh but um they are all set up. Awesome. Thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate it. Thank you. Bye bye.
56:00
