V2 Grader Summary

The agent provided accurate, tailored product recommendations (MBE7000, MX6200) based on verified gateway specs and customer needs, sent follow-up links, and offered clear next steps. While no full resolution was confirmed, meaningful progress was made in diagnosing compatibility and guiding the customer toward a solution, warranting a Partial Resolution classification.

V1 Case Analysis

Customer Jim Dixon requested a router recommendation to replace his out-of-warranty E8450 and support a 2.5 Gbps WAN link. Agent recommended MBE7000 and MX6200, explaining tri-band Wi-Fi 6, port counts, and bridging capability. Customer accepted recommendations and ended call.

Troubleshooting Steps
  • Identified current router model (E8450) and its limitations
  • Clarified requirement for 2.5 Gbps WAN and ≥4 LAN ports
  • Verified compatibility with customer's ISP-provided gateway (CGM4981X)
  • Provided product recommendations (MBE7000, MX6200) with feature overview
Key Observations
  • Agent correctly identified customer's need for a 2.5 Gbps-capable router and recommended two suitable models (MBE7000, MX6200) that meet the requirement
  • Call contained long silences and repeated statements, reducing efficiency
  • Minor technical inaccuracy: Agent referred to '2.5 GHz' instead of '2.5 Gbps' when discussing WAN port speed, but this did not mislead the customer
  • Agent maintained a polite and patient tone throughout the call
Positive Highlights
  • Offered two suitable router options (MBE7000, MX6200) that meet the customer's stated requirements for 2.5 Gbps WAN, tri-band Wi-Fi 6, and port configuration
  • Accurately described the MBE7000 and MX6200 capabilities including tri-band operation, Wi-Fi 6, and port layout per KB specifications
  • Verified compatibility with the customer's ISP-provided gateway (CGM4981X) and its 2.5 Gbps port
  • Maintained clear, professional explanations of router features and bridging capability
Agent Errors / Gaps
  • Failed to collect product model/serial number at the start of the call
  • Did not verify warranty status explicitly despite the customer mentioning the router is out of warranty
  • Provided inaccurate unit terminology ('2.5 GHz' vs '2.5 Gbps') for WAN port speed
  • Did not provide a concrete next step such as sending product links or a follow-up email

[KEEP_UNCERTAIN] and I don't want to learn it. I mean, I'm only going to buy it once, maybe or twice, you know. And actually, I've got four old ones here. They go long way back, 20 years back. Um, and so I was hoping that if I could tell you what I need to be able to do, that you could tell me what modem I should be getting. And I won't blame you if you're wrong. Can you do that? Yes. Well, I've got this this one that yeah, you know, if I want to go into a store and buy something, do I have to go through all of this? No, I don't. I walk in, I see the product, I pick it up, I don't know what to ... [silence] and I don't want to learn it. I mean, I'm only going to buy it once, maybe or twice, you know. And actually, I've got four old ones here. They go a long way back, 20 years back. Um, and so I was hoping that if I could tell you what I need to be able to do, that you could tell me what modem I should be getting. And I won't blame you if you're wrong. Can you do that? Yes. I walk in, I see the product, I pick it up, I don't know ... what to ...
07:00
Speaker 2
Oh, okay. Uh, yes, of course, I can absolutely check it for you, but just to confirm, I'm speaking with Sir Jim Dixon. Okay. And just, please, um, uh, because I will be describing your router, okay? Because you were not able to provide the serial number and the one that I might actually have here is not the one. [silence] Okay. [silence] uh-huh [silence] Hmm-hmm. [silence] Oh, okay.
07:00
Speaker 1
work for me anyway because on the box it says up to 3.2. That's that's sleazy selling product because when I get it home and I and it sat here gathering dust for a long time and I take it out and I hook it up and I can't figure out why I can't get two g off of it and it goes all through my ISP and all that sort of stuff and they can't figure it out either. So I phoned. And it's not up to 3.2. It is it's it is if you want to add all four ports together, you might get 3.2 or two. Out of a 3.2. And that's actually it's uh very small very hard to see that little dot. But okay, so pretend you're a sales clerk in a store and I want to buy a new uh router. I have a modem here that can only work with so many routers of certain kinds and so I'm looking for that right kind that um the stuff that you serve in yours or you have built in there. So it will work with my uh modem. You follow me? No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Oh, boy. There's a cable that comes into the the house. It goes right to a modem. I need the router to what happened is, is the ISP was bought out by another company and they're bullies and thugs and they really don't care about their customers. And so for me to get the two point again, I had to use another modem a router because it they won't let us access the uh, sorry, they won't let us access the modem anymore. So, we can change settings in it. We have to download an app to our phone and that way they know everything [silence]
09:00
Speaker 2
Okay. So, if you're looking for a, um, modem that could work with, um, your router, so the modem that you actually. Okay. Or outside there. This is that thing. Uh-huh.
10:00
Speaker 1
What I don't want this thing to do is report back. So, when they took it away. So the only way around that is to bridge it. Okay, so that's what I did with the other modem that I bought from Linksys is I bridged it. Okay, now I can access the settings and I can change the SSID, I can change passwords, all that stuff that they denied me with the modem after they changed companies. The router, all it's going to do is let me control settings. All they want it to do is control the settings and do two Gs or it can handle more than two Gs because it yeah. I didn't understand what you're saying, the word. [silence]
11:00
Speaker 2
The two point four, yes. The two point four, are we're talking about the two point four gigahertz band and the 5 gigahertz band, correct? Yeah, so the 2.4 gigahertz band is the others Wi-Fi signal that a router can produce. [silence]
11:00
Speaker 1
Yes, yes, I need a router that's uh, capable of real 3.2 or 2 at if it's 2, I won't get 2. It'll only be about 1500. That's why I want one that's got at least three. Okay, at least three. I should be able to get up there. Well, okay, wait. What's three pan - What is three bands? No, What about five?
12:00
Speaker 2
Is that what you need or...? ...good. Good. Okay, I see. So um sir, we have a router that can produce up to three bands. We have uh there is a router. Yeah. Yeah, I was actually about to explain it. So this three bands that you can actually get. So this is the 2.4 GHz. The 5 GHz one and then the 5 GHz two. So the 2.4 GHz band can absolutely cover a bigger area. But, when it comes about its speed performance, of course, it can much be, uh, lesser. Since it, as what I've mentioned, it can cover a much more wider area. Now, if we're talking about the 2.4 5 gigahertz band, it can only cover a small amount of area, but regarding with the speed, of course, I can guarantee you when you are at the 5 gigahertz band, it can absolutely perform well. But, there is actually a but on that one. So, her Jim, okay? 'Cause there are, there is actually a router that cannot only produce a 5 gigahertz band, but can also produce a 6 gigahertz band. Now, the disadvantages, uh, yeah. So, the disadvantage of the 6 gigahertz band is that if you have a device that is unable to detect the 6 gigahertz band,
12:00
Speaker 1
it cannot do six. Okay. It can do two to five. Yeah. Now, this modem you're talking about, this modem you're talking about six bands, can it do two, four or two, five and six or just six? Okay. And if I had the equipment, it would do six. Okay. Okay. Um, you're talking about Wi-Fi and I'm sorry to interrupt, sorry to interrupt, sorry to interrupt you. Uh, you're talking about some stuff you may not need to. I don't know. Um, but I don't really use Wi-Fi around here. A lot of, everything's cabled. And I sometimes go Wi-Fi, you know. Um, I like my privacy. Uh, so yeah.
15:00
Speaker 2
तरह Okay. Yeah, that's actually okay. It can do 2.4 and 5. Yeah. Yeah, if you can have the equipment that can communicate to the Wi-Fi signal, then of course, it can definitely work with it. But they much more, Oh, yeah, I'm sorry. Oh, okay. Oh, yeah, it's okay, sir.
15:00
Speaker 1
yeah four but they don't all use it uh desktop yeah uh well there's two desktops and I have uh I have a a tablet that I uh have plugged in uh there's a cell phone here but it's not a normal cell phone it's military grade and I can't use it for other stuff anyway, so I'm not worried if it's Wi-Fi or cable. I don't care you know, it's secure. Uh I'm gonna put a I want to put a what do you call it at the um uh raspberry pi and set up uh my own DNS server and uh ad blocker and all that sort of blocker stuff. [silence] which they sell as their own. It's not a generic device. It just comes with a generic handler. Maybe I've used it for
16:00
Speaker 2
Okay, so let's just switch the conversations to other things. How many of your devices are connected wired, if you can estimate it? Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay.
16:00
Speaker 1
And that's done to a raspbian if you've heard of it. Do you know about yeah. OK. Yeah. That's what I want to set up as well. So that I prefer cable. And that way if I want privacy, I just unplug it. He don't like. Yeah. Not a router. Router. Router. But yeah, you're right. You're right. Yeah. Sorry. Go ahead. Sure. Yes. Oh, no, no. I like when it's got yeah, four. OK.
17:00
Speaker 2
Oh, okay. Ah, yeah. Yeah, I I I agree with that. So, uh yeah, this or let me just go ahead and look for some router that can definitely, um, uh, like, you know, um, a modem. Yeah. Yeah, we actually only sell our router. So just give me one moment, cuz we actually have this routers that can only provide or give you a limited, um, what do they call this? Um, port. It only comes with two ports. So let me just go ahead and look for some other router that can have four or yeah, four or more. Um, one moment, okay? Mhm. And, um,
17:00
Speaker 1
okay. I'll get the model number if that's what you like. Um, I had trouble before getting the model number off of this. and they told me where it was, but it's not there. and all I've got is password, serial number. Who? Yeah, no, that's where I'm looking. there's a pin number. um, passwords, uh, where's the model? I had trouble before getting the model number off of this. and they told me where it was, but it's not there. Um, all I've got is password, serial number. Who? Yeah, no, that's where I'm looking. there's only pin number.
18:00
Speaker 2
I just also. Um, I really wanna check this one. What modem do you have from Rogers? Um. Check, like, under. Yeah. How about you check under the modem itself or in the front? Uh-huh.
18:00
Speaker 1
[KEEP_UNCERTAIN] I know I the lady that was I remember talking to a lady at the uh ISP and um she says gotta be there and I said it's not you know and I remembered you know this said nope um as the Xfinity uh a brand uh big logo no got disacting I uh have I should be able I should be able to look at it with my desktop shouldn't I and say what is that cuz there's nothing else there he the guy that came here he swapped the same thing out um because
19:00
Speaker 2
Uh huh. Um. How about the brand? How about the brand? Can you check it? Maybe there's something we can pull up from there. I, yeah. I know. After, maybe there's a big logo. And then underneath that big logo, maybe there is some information. Yeah. Coming from the, um, no? Okay. Because, um, here's actually the thing. Because um. Uh, uh, yeah. Um.
19:00
Speaker 1
Because there's a problem with the modem, and he swapped it out for another one. But it was the one that, uh, yeah, the same, it was the same thing. He said, then I got a bill. I got a bill. They wanted me to pay for it. And I the guy took it back and they said, the gal said, you should never give it, let them take it back. And she said, they weren't going to charge me. Yeah. No, I'm sorry, my friend. There's only, um, yeah, just, uh, no. Oh, I remember now, something about, uh, it's the same as another number that's on there. Can't, uh, the CGM, oh, 4981X, made in Vietnam. How? Does that help you?
20:00
Speaker 2
Oh. But the same thing. Okay. Okay. Let me just...
20:00
Speaker 1
OK, I get. Mm-hmm, you're asking for the modem, right? the router, the old router? Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. That's what I'm looking at that's what I got. There's a white button on the back. Uh, look at yes. Mm-hmm. That's the Xfinity, it'ssetup, they call it.
21:00
Speaker 2
Okay, Care, it says, just correct me if I'm wrong, it's a kind of little tower as well. And it's color of black. Um, yeah, the modem. No, the modem. The modem. Mm. Is it the color white? Okay, it's a color white little tower. And, um, it has, it has six ports?
21:00
Speaker 1
Yup. Six ports. One's for a telephone. Oh, really, okay. Okay. That's fine. Um... Uh-huh. Okay. [silence]
22:00
Speaker 2
Okay. Yeah. So we, yeah, one is for the telephone, the other one is for the internet, but of course, since this is provided by the internet service provider, the only internet that you can use, or the only port that has been unlocked here is maybe about maybe one or two. Yes, if you're actually going to unlock or use the other ports, that will be added to your bill. Yeah, that's actually how it works. So, uh, yeah. So, let me, let me just check it. Yes, um, I actually already have the Lynxis router that I'll be recommending. Now, I'll just gonna go ahead and check if this modem that you have can do really have the specs that, you know, that this Linksys router can absolutely perform on it's like, you know, on how you expect this one to work. Because it will it will be going to be like, you know, it will going to be unfair on your side that you have this powerful router, but it cannot perform well because you have the modem that cannot provide a, like, you know, an excellent partner with this router. So, let me just double check this one, just to make sure. [silence] So... Let me just double- double check this specs of your... So, 2 gigahertz. Okay. So the one that you have, actually, Sir Jim, the CGM foam 981. This is actually not a modem alone. This is actually a gateway. So this one, yeah, this one can actually produce a wireless connection and a wired connection. But since you mentioned that you cannot access the settings of this gateway and, of course, you cannot customize it,
22:00
Speaker 1
Well, they tell me that I have to download it, sorry, but they say, yeah, I can, but instead of accessing it with a, you know, a cable or a desktop or a laptop or anything like that, yeah, they said I had to download that into my phone and access it from there. And I no, I'm not giving them up my privacy for that, you know? It's uh not worth it. [silence] Yeah, I can't do any of that. And that's why.
25:00
Speaker 2
Since your internet, yeah, since your internet service provider is not allowing you to do so. So yeah, this is actually, uh-huh. You need an app. Uh-hmm. Yeah, and I believe that one is the Cox Panoramic Wi-Fi feature. I actually have, I mean, actually, I actually, I actually pull up a lot of information about your gateway. I'm so sorry because I really need to check this one. So you need this app for that, I mean, for you to customize everything on this gateway. So, okay. It has two, two SSIDs.
25:00
Speaker 1
I'll tell you that I can't do that when I told them. No, I'm not. They said, well, we got some phones. If you want, we sell them. And I see, I know what you're doing. You're not going to cut my service and tell me I have to buy something to fix it. So I said, no, it's not happening. And then they said, okay, well, then you can bridge it. And they said, get a router, put the router behind it, and plug the router into the modem with the internet cable, because one port on the modem is for internet. And the others are share, I guess. And I said, okay, you know, and that's when I pulled out the one that I had, and it said 3.2 on it, you know. And I put it on there, and I thought, why did my own drop from two over? I usually get over two GBs, you know, and it dropped right down to 800 and flipped between 800 and 950. So they said, oh, well, that you have to get a different modem that can handle it, you know. And they said, what it's doing is it's sharing the ports.
26:00
Speaker 2
Oh.
26:00
Speaker 1
Get 3.2, if you're using all the ports on the router. Oh, okay. Yeah. How much? Mm-hmm.
27:00
Speaker 2
yeah. yeah, you're actually right. so, um, here's the thing, so I have fully now checked the one that you have and the uh this uh router that I'll be going to propose to you. so the gateway that you have is actually it has a port that can run up to 2.5 Um Gigabytes per second. That's one of your internet ports at the back and it has a label that um on the four um It's on the port number four that has a red underline. So that's your uh 2.5 GBPS port. So you can use that port to connect this router or this linksys router. So this This link dogs router is what we call the MBE 7000, so this MBE 7000 has the 2.4 GHz band, 5 GHz band and the 6 GHz band. Now this link dogs router can actually, just for a single node or just for a single router. Because sometimes that this actually comes with two or three. So in a single router it can cover up to 3,000 square feet. Now, talking about the port, this router has four, I mean five ports in total, but the fifth port, this is actually the port that should run from the link dogs router to your gateway, so 2.5 GHz port. run a cable to the 2.5 gigahertz or gigabit internet port of your linksys router. So the other port, you can use it. So, so the other one could run to your desktop, the other one can run to the other desktop, the other one can run to any of other devices that is currently working with an ethernet cable. So you can, this is actually a good uh you know, good router for you. And then, um, so regarding uh with the um regarding with the speed, let me just check it out. So for the 2. uh for the 2.4 uh gigahertz, this uh the theoretical speed, or it can hit the maximum theoretical speed up to 500.
27:00
Speaker 1
mhm ooh, wow. Okay, and this is the one that's got... Oh, go ahead. No, you go ahead. I've been writing things down here, so you go ahead. [silence]
30:00
Speaker 2
191 Mbps. This is only for the 2.4 GHz band. Because as what I have mentioned, 2.4 can cover wider area but regarding with the speed, it can definitely drop down up to 500 Mbps. Now, for the 5 GHz band, it can run or the theoretical speed can go up to 4,342 Mbps. So if you're going to convert it to GB, that can actually goes up to 4.3 GB. Yeah. And if you have, I'm sorry? Okay. And I can actually send you this article so that you'll have the visibility and then you can review this router. [silence]
30:00
Speaker 1
Uh-huh. Yeah. Okay. Do you sell from this, uh, from right from where you are? Do I have to, do they recommend I go to a, uh, buy it in a store somewhere? Um, how do, how can I get one? Mm-hmm. Okay. Okay. Okay. Yeah, appreciate it.
31:00
Speaker 2
And of course then that's then the time that you can decide if you want to consider getting this router or if if it it if it can really meet your expectations. Then, you know, you can absolutely get this router. So, yeah. Um, Okay. So you can purchase, uh, you can check this one out from Amazon, eBay and Best Buy. So there are so aside from MB7000, let me just check some other routers that we have, okay? Um, yeah, cuz you actually mentioned that you like, you know, uh, you need some routers that are like gaming routers as well. Okay. You know, you need more ports because, uh, what other routers that we have can actually only provide like, you know, three, two, something like that, three or two ports. And uh, aside, aside from um Mbe 7000. We also have this MX 6200. So uh, this MX 6200 also comes with five ports. So, of course, the other port will run directly to the um, your gateway, and the other one will be connected to the 2.5 gigabyte um, internet port and then there will be other four available ports that you can use. So, regarding with the um,
31:00
Speaker 1
You just say 6200. Okay, yeah. Mhm.
33:00
Speaker 2
Okay, so Mexadoom for you, the MX6200. Mm-hmm. Yep. 6~2. Yep. So this is also a tri-band router. Same with the MB7000. It is also running with a Wi-Fi 6. So, yes, you can still have three networks for this one. And then regarding with the speed, it's actually the same. It's just that there are some features that will going to be different from the MBE. But yeah, this is actually also a great one. That, of course, aside from the ports, because one port can, you know, directly run up to - one of the port can run up to 10,000 and a
33:00
Speaker 1
Okay. Yeah. Yes, please. Yep. both of them? The MX and the M3? You're sending me for both, eh? Great. Okay. And you have my email there? Yes. Yes, yep. Yeah, cuz I'm gonna have a hard time getting rid of this one. I don't need this brand. Well, it's been in a box for
34:00
Speaker 2
of course like you know you can review their routers first um before purchasing it cuz it's actually much more better um to double check it before you know before placing the order
34:00
Speaker 1
quite a while. And then I finally pulled it out. But I bought it because I want to be ready for the incoming new technology I was going to having a new computer and new monitor and all that sort of stuff. And unfortunately, it went out of warranty so - but I can - I can put it on, you know, on something like a Gigi or whatever and put a price on it. Somebody will buy it. I'm not worried about that. I don't - you don't even need to think about it. You don't because it's my problem. So, well, good. Great.
35:00
Speaker 2
uh yes Chris I did uh yeah cuz I did actually uh check the router that we actually have on record cuz what you still have or what we still have here in our record is the E 8450 so this E 8450 Jim is actually one of our legacy legacy routers so if you still have this router and if you're going to use this one with your new desktop you

Oh yeah, so uh yeah, that is a really like, you know, um, um, one of our legacy routers so links is actually stop manufacturing that router since um, since December 11th of 2024. And uh, that router that support the support of that router will also be ended uh, will be ending soon as well. okay. Oh, yeah. And yeah, uh, Jim, can you confirm if you received it already, please?

Oh, yeah. I was going to look for that. Yeah. I've been having trouble with my ISP. Um, nope, not yet redacted at Shaw, yeah. yep Yes, yes, yeah. and I just did it again here, that's here now. just came in. yeah, the trouble I'm having with my ISP, well, with my ISP, they took, Rogers bought up a company called Shaw, and I was a Shaw customer. I'm now a Rogers victim, the way I look at it. But the whole email system has just gone south, the day they took over. And it's been a real difficult thing. I can send myself an email, and I'll have to wait four or five minutes before it arrives, whereas before it was instant. So, they're having problems too by taking over another company that didn't have the same settings that they did. So, they're trying to make it their way and they're doing a terrible job of it. But, yeah, I got your links this thing. And it's got, show me here. Yep. Two links there. Yep. Yep. [silence]
